Tuesdays Ammnesia - Tonight @ Amnesia

Mmm slight change is an understatement, its a whole different genre8O

I would have thought the Amnesia site to be the most up to date tbh and after seeing that change I personally wouldn't go as not into dubstep or d&b (too moody for my liking)
 
It's a real disappointment if they've made such a radical change at such short notice. No way Sasha could fit in around Main Room lineup. He's just done Ushuaia yesterday, is in Edinburgh tomorrow and did Global with Prydz last weekend. Amnesia had him on early last time (wouldn't like that, I don't think !!) .. :idea: maybe he's pulled out - but if he has, he should get his flipping tour dates on facebook updated !! A friend has asked Sasha and Amnesia via twitter what's up but as yet no responses.

The terrace looks fine, to be fair, provided Mr Prydz actually shows up .. but if not or if anyone's really not on form I wouldn't want to switch to a main room with that lineup. Not that you can 'room-hop' very easily in there at the best of times !!

If Sasha's pulled out, flights will be cancelled as will have changed from really excited, great lineup to not sure I'd go even if I was in Ibiza anyway. Will await further news before cancelling my flights !
 
ha ha ha ....credit to you for going for the night...will be out there with ibiza paul and friends the 2nd week of sept if anyone fancies it.

The main room now looks utter **** and I guess Prydz won't be playing 6 hours anymore.

Something is very awry here ... theories are :

- As earlier post .. Sasha has pulled out (or been pulled)

- They took a look at the DC-10 / Cocoon lineup for Monday and realized many of the usual suspects would be too wasted to show up, so diversify to put toes on dancefloors

- Tonight was being billed as a night of diverse musical styles and it was looking too much like a night just for people like us

- Sasha going head to head with Prydz in different rooms was going to cause chaos as people tried to room-hop so the plan got ripped up when they met and thought it through on Friday

- It's ropey whether Prydz is going to be up to handling the 6-hour set advertised (defo not by the looks of it) - so it's all gone into a flat spin and some "bright spark" in a back office somewhere has come up with the crazy idea that's just now posted on Amnesia's website

Complete load of pants imo whatever is going on - get your stuff together, guys !! Plus have they sorted out a smoking area for non-VIPs yet ??? Hmmmm :? not 8)

That's just tough luck, it seems that the new lineup on amnesia.es is the one to go with.

As for Maya being dropped, I'll try to give a review when I get back. :p
 
All I care about is Prydz turning up on the 6th Sept! Doesn't mention anything about a cubed show for that date though...which concerns me. Not really fussed about the other room...but a different style is probably a good idea to prevent the bottle neck between the two rooms from getting silly...

Maya Jane Coles has been moved to 30th August.
 
Maya was moved ages ago - can't see how the Main Room new lineup published in June is in any way like the one running up until this latest change.

Anyhow, Sasha is not playing Tuesday and the line-up is indeed as per Amnesia website.. however Pacha-goers have a nice surprise in store for them - that is unless they prefer Paul Kalkbrenner :

There is a special guest TBA for that night, but I have my hopes set on something different !

Sasha doesn't have an event planned for that tuesday and the following thursday he's at ushuaia, it could happen !! :twisted:

while i don't know the reason he's no longer playing Amnesia on tuesday, i don't think i've ever seen a dj on a lineup, then taken off, then added back.... of course he could be there but i think you'll have better odds winning the lottery than him spinning there! :)

He won't be there - he announced on twitter that it's off.

Will have to see how things go business-wise - it's very hard to get away now things are picking up again - just happened I had a short window next Tues/Weds so a real shame all in all. Still, other windows may yet crack open ;)

right - the poster above seem seemed to be hoping he'll end up there... as we both noted its not happening. (well i guess hypothetically it could happen but see my comment about the winning the lottery being more likely) :)

its interesting that he's at Pacha tonight as a fill-in dj for Paul Kaulbrenner... wonder if that somehow had something to do with tuesday... for exclusivity reasons usually you wouldn't see someone as well known as him playing Amneisa and Pacha twice within 5 days...
 
It's all a mystery to me .. but I think the original plan to have Sasha & Prydz in Main Room & Terrace respectively was not the most sensible. A lot of the same people are likely to want to see both and in Amnesia that could cause real traffic jams if they all tried to room-hop regularly.

I think shiba was referring to 30/8 which still has a special guest slot free.

i disagree about # of people potentially being an issue.... from what i've heard its not totally packed on the Prydz nights... and Amnesia doesn't have a problem putting too many people in there (as an example see the Cocoon nights or the Snoop Dog night recently).

Maybe the opening was exceptionally busy as everywhere. People who've been this year would know in a way I can't about the numbers on particular nights but it can get very rammed in there ! ;)

i wish i could remember exactly where i heard it wasn't slammed at Prydz... i think it was from a buddy whose living in Ibiza this summer but i could be wrong.

either way, as i said before of all the reasons Sasha isn't there, i'd be willing to bet all I have that possible overcrowding due to him and Prydz playing the same time wasn't on the list :)

and don't get me wrong - Sasha is my favorite dj, but he doesn't quite fill the room like some other djs do nowadays.

Of course in August I don't think it matters who is spinning at Amnesia and it would still draw a crowd :p
 
Probably right ! Hope he's having a good time in Edinburgh tonight - he has a lot of support up there.

It is very true and interested to hear that's the case in the US also ? Thought his European popularity dwindling was much to do with the US residencies and global tours but maybe it's just he's been overtaken by others as is the case for everyone in the end. He seems to attract an older crowd now many of whom have 'grown up with him' (including myself !) - not a bad thing in my book all in all !!

Remember seeing Sasha play Fabric some years back and nearly getting trampled in the crush. It was virtual hero-worshipping with people screaming and getting crazily carried away, just as bad if not worse than the reaction to SHM or Guetta at Pacha is now. More relaxed sets with a more relaxed crowd definitely suit better these days :).
