Its been 3 months now and i'm desperate. Ive applied for over 200 jobs now! Its not helping that my old company are refusing to give a reference for meN8 said:Don't dwell on it......their loss! Hope you find something soon, good luck!
were you there a long time?? is it a vital part of your cv/skills/achievements??
if not, just dont mention em, or at least make sue they write to someone there who would give you a reference?? I've done it before!!!![]()
you wont get found out, basically it's not a case of someone writing a reference anymore, it's just a tick sheet with approx half a dozen questions on it, no room or need for elaboration, just give the name of an ally/allie (sp??) where you used to work and say they were your manager, or better still say they have gone bust but you still have home address of your old boss??
as for 6mths being to long...far from it, dont mention the place, say you took some time off, went travelling or that you worked where you worked prior to there a few months longer??
play clever...not hard
well yeah, whatever works for you, i sometimes account for "synapses" in my cv by saying i was working abroad fior a few mths taking a "career break".
when I got my current job, they were asking what i did when i was like 20, and i was like , fook me thats 15 years ago, what has that gotta do with what ive been doing for the last 7 years, which is like relevant, so i just made something up! if it's a fairly large company, it'll be the one & only time you speak to HR anyway??
