The Judge has budged from Radio 1

DJing at smaller clubs, after looking at his DJ page.
Friday 9th - Witney, Oxfordshire
Saturday 10th - J13, Stroud

I remember when he did his 7 hour gig at Ministry, that was great fun.

I actually didn't mind Dave as a presenter (preferable to the tits on r1 during the day now) and enjoyed his dance anthems show as a Sunday night cheer up sorta thing, despite not liking the trancier end.

I'd now rather listen to radio shows that are eclectic and taste-expanding (hence Benji B and RDB). Another good one is the Freak Zone on 6 Music; in 2 hours I heard dub reggae, ECM jazz, live progressive metal, Zomby (dubstep guy) and Plastikman! (it's on iplayer)

Dave Pearce was the 1st voice heard on one of the Public Enemy albums IIRC. DP has actually played Madison's in Ayr (my local sh!t hole ) and that was when he was still with the beeb.

I went to Dave Pearce night in Ibzia years ago. Afterwards a walked into a tree and fell over.

It wasn't my best night ever.

Didn't he used to do Godskitchen / Gatecrasher nights?
And lol

Can't remember the night but I'd brought 8 footy lads who'd rarely did drugs out to the island, and we had a great night. But I don't think Dangerous Dave was really the key ingredient in it!

Haha. His Euphoria / Gatecrasher nights when they toured more often were Awesome in Syndicate Bristol. Shame it's become an Indie venue now :(

So, his last ever set on Radio 1 was on tonight.

Hour one was a bit meh.
Hour two has been nothing short of incredible.

Been listening to the BBC tonight, mainly 6 Music, seems there are a lot of changes starting next week...lots of Sony awards award noms, I know my fave '#jeah!

Gilles Peterson is off to 6 Music next week. Been quite liking his show on R1. Now the only stuff I'll listen to on radio 1 is Rob Da Bank and Benji B, unless any of the new specialist shows are good...

6 Music is doing a dance themed month in April.

I agree. I listened live to the first time in god knows how many years. Normally I listen via catch-up on iPlayer.

The first hour was very much anti-climatic, however the last hour redeemed the send-off slightly.

However, I suspect this was mainly due to Jules not wanting a fanfare of a goodbye, as opposed to R1 not wanting too.

No doubt he will be the go to man should they need a cover presenter in the near future.

Well thats me finished listning to Radio 1 and I'm a young listner (20). I will occasionally tune into Tong's last hour, but thats pretty much it now...... Obviously a big loss Jules leaving the station, but also happy as he has left whilst still on top (no need to debate)

I to actually wrote a letter to Mr Cooper (still waiting for a reply) 3 weeks ago about the current reshufle and how it was slightly one sighted replacing them with the "new sound of radio 1"

I went along these main points:
a) If anything, Trance is on the uprise again and how there is now no Trance show on the fm.... I pointed out to Mr Cooper how many of the "hugely influential" top 100 djs were Trance djs. I also pointed out that Todla T doesn't even make it in this "hugely influential" poll, compared to Jules who has been ever present so far (I thought I'd give Mr Cooper his rankings for the last 3 years - in case he didn't know"

b) He states that his aim was to attract younger listners.... Well lets just say you took 1000 young listners, and asked them who they have heard of, I think a larger number would say Jules. I thought I'd inform Mr Cooper of Jules v.successful night in Ibiza Judgement Sundays. Jules tends to attract a younger crowd with many younger people choosing to head there even with a 48 euro price tag when other cheaper nights are available.

C) Radio 1 weekend.... again gave him the list since 2007 (in case Mr Cooper didn't know) and how none of the newer guys can headline a night in the clubs they tend to go to.

But the good news, Julesmdid state that he will offer more stations his Global Warm up show... so hopefully Kiss will buy it :)

Dance anthems back on a Saturday from 4-7pm with Danny Howard. Not the best time as it falls over final score  but a great addition I'd say.

Dave Pearce is launching a new radio show as well I believe.

It's a shame that Trance will no longer be on the BBC. But I've not really listened to the judge for a couple of years. Used to be all the time. Him then Pete, then off to the Gallery at Turnmills, when I was first getting in to the music. Kind of stopped listening after awhile, found other shows to listen to (GDJB, ASOT, TATW, etc).

For me personally, the judge was a gateway act. He got me in to Trance in the first place, but after seeing the likes of Armin and Paul Van Dyk, I stopped going to see him.

Fully agree there, also the fact that he is a very good broadcaster as well......
All is not lost though for the BBC, I head on the radio today that Jordan Suckley is one on the new djs we trust along with Julio Bashmore, so these could be pretty good shows!

Those shows are only on rotation either once a month or once every two. Good DJs to have on board though

I used to enjoy listening to the Judge when he was on Kiss (RIP:(), in fact he was less "trancey" in those days. Along with the likes of Parkey, David Dunne and Tim Lennox it was almost all day long FM bliss.

One has to dig a lot deeper these days to find a good/suitable broadcast. Radio 1 is pants, except as stated earlier, when Tongy does his last hour or so.

Nearly all the decent dance-orientated clubs in Bristol have gone now:( Creation used to have Sundissential (and that's now a Ritzy-type club). You take your life in your hands going anywhere near there or The Thekla thanks to the lovely mix of beer-boys and crackheads. The Lakota is the latest victim after a 15-year-old guy died on the dancefloor in there. The coroner said he had over 5x the expected dose of MDMA in his system. The Depot and The Maze went which only really leaves the Black Swan on the Stapleton Road- another delightful area for messed up folks to walk through after a heavy night:(

Jordan appeared regularly as a resident at Syndicate in Bristol when I went clubbing there and you could see even then that he was one of the most talented young DJs in the country. From a technical perspective, a lot stronger than even some of the bigger, 'experienced' names. And I heard he spent some time after that 'training' with Eddie Halliwell while Eddie was at Radio One. Most of his productions lack a little something at the moment, but he'll be one of the few new DJs (maybe the only one in trance music) that can build a huge name as a DJ alone. Mark my words!

Well Jules night in Ibiza seems to be getting stronger this year. This was just posted on Facebook:

" We are pleased to officially announce Judgement Sundays Ibiza returns to Eden in 2012. Opening on Sun 10th June till Sun 16th Sept for 15 weeks. Ferry Corsten joins us with his 'Full on Ferry' show for 6 dates and Judgement favourite Eddie Halliwell joins us for 3 dates with is legendary 'Fire it Up' events. Watch this space for full weekly line ups coming soon.....See you on the dancefloor"

Add John O'Callaghan as already mentioned on the confirmed + all the new upcoming djs which will be on the bill, could result in a good season for the Judge!!!!
