This is a massive trophy to win. A European trophy.
Also winning the League Cup is bigger than getting in the Champions League. 20 years time nobody remembers the time you finished 4th in the league, fans do remember winning trophies though.
Should bring back the European Cup, Cup Winners Cup and UEFA Cup. All knockout. Won’t ever happen though, the greed in football is off the charts, zero consideration for the match going fan.

Excerpt from my mail to our league as a team want to move a game for the Plate Final
"xxxx - the league will need decide what happens. If we want to set a precedent that teams can refuse to play games without penalty if their players prefer to do something else, so be it. I'd suggest that we might need to structure what level of football trumps agreed fixture dates too. Not that our players or pitch are available, but there are Premiership games on Tuesday 20th, Scottish Premiership Play-Offs on the Thursday 22nd. To be honest, the Greek Super League Relegation Round fixtures on the 22nd are probably more prestigious than the European Plate."

I'm admittedly not a supporter of the mediocre, third-rate football team in town (Ålesund - a cluster of buildings on the west coast of Norway). They aren't even qualified to play in the highest league in Norway. Colleagues of mine usually show up on Monday mornings feeling miserable about the weekends match. This is why every one of them also has a favourite British team as well. It's the only way to survive.
Anyway, this evening this team has shocked everyone by beating the far superior Bodø-Glimt - who played against Tottenham in the Europs league semi-finals a few days ago. This victory is in an early round in the national champs. Which means people think they have a chance of winning.
It's going to be unbearable at work tomorrow. I'll have to lock myself in my office.

I would say good luck but I selfishly want Southend to stay down as my local side Morecambe were relegated into the national league and it's a good weekender! If not we'll have to make do with York or...Truro!
