Well, since no one else has done it. Time to start a new thread!

Interesting headlines today:
Downing leaves Villa for Liverpool
And Modric finally putting in a transfer request :D

And best of all: USA Women in the World Cup final after dispatching the French 8)
(although I saw a bit of Japan v Sweden and the Japanese will not be easy to beat!)

Speaking of Chelsea goalscorer's someone got all the press for his goal the other
day...

- I'd be pissed if I was Yossi as his was unbelievable and no one even mentioned it...

Really hope Downing is better than what we've seen so far....

50:50 about this one tbh.

Kazuke Honda would have been my choice, but happy to be wrong on this.

Downing was our stand out player last season.. Shame we stuck our necks out for him while he was still injured and never kicked a ball for 6 months... i guess thats football these days.

I think for an instant impact its got to be someone with expereince, I read he converted 137 crosses from the left wing last season, more than anyone in the last 5 seasons, thats what Carroll and Suarez will be begging for. I'd have loved Mata, but as Citeh and Madrid got involved his price jumped to around 35mill apparently.

Weve been begging for a decent left winger for anout 9 seasons  and yes there wont be a decent sell on value, but for the 'now' I think hell be ok.

Would be nice to balance it, even a little with some departures though.

Jovanovich, Ngog, Cole, Poulsen for example.

Maxi has taken shirt number 11, so it sounds like his late season form bought him another year.

Would like to see Aquilani and Mereiles given a go, at least until Christmas...

Apparently Jova going back to Belgium, and Poulsen will be following him out soon. I'm hearing from a friend back home that Cole will be given until Christmas at least to improve or hes gone. Meireles and Aqua can both be class acts, so our midfield should be fine. We just need a decent LB now IMO.

It's been a very long time since Liverpool have had strength in depth in the squad, for once i feel we finally do.

We've got a good 8/9 defenders that are good enough for the first team, probably could still do with a LB. Although Aurelio (when fit) flanagan, insua, agger and johnson can all play there.

10 midfielders who can all challenge for a starting place, can't remember the last time we had this many with quality to come off the bench and the likes of spearing and shelvey still learning their trade.

Could probably do with a striker as well IMO but the 3 we have can all certainly do a job when required and some decent youth coming through.

It's going to be yet another quality season ahead. If Liverpool can maintain their record from last season against the top teams and improve massively against the lower clubs we should be in for a good one.

The top 6 will be a great battle hopefully.

Apparently Sneijder to Manure is a done deal.

Really? How much for?
Id guess Man Utd would have to fork out near £40M for him, Inter won't sell him cheap.

Heard about Essien being out for 6 months earlier, sad news, he's been very unlucky with injuries, Chelsea miss him.

I'm just curious where Aguero will end up, he's been outstanding in the Copa America..

Poulsen's agent saying the deal to Copenhagen will not happen and he's staying....

GGGRRRRR  Hope not. We really need to ship some dead wood.

Schneider to United not on at all and just paper talk? Seems that way.

A girlfriend of mine whos Dad works at Manure (he coached Becks, Scholes and brothers Grim) said a transfer had been greed between the clubs and that it was just down to personal terms, maybe 200k a week isnt enough

Ditto to all the above. I keep reading so called supporters moaning about the ammount of midfielders we have been buying, but once you get rid of the dross and with Stevie not getting any younger, we should have 2 'good' players for each posstition, and imo you need that in the modern game.

RE a striker, I see we're being linked with Jeffren from Barça again. He'd fit in with the transfer policy of buying young players with potential, and he looks a decent prospect. Like you say a LB and maybe another striker will do.

I cant wait for the new season !!

WTF is your fascination with that saying ? All he says is that we have strengthened in certain areas, and that if we carry on with the same form we might do ok, in fact he even says "The top 6 will be a great battle hopefully.*

Nothing about it being our year. You fcking Chelsea supporters and your fascination with us anting to do well

At no point did i mention that i thought this year would be our year. Even with the signings we've got I'd still say the likes or Manure, Chelsea and City still have better squads.

I'm 25 and started supporting Liverpool properly from around the age of 5, never have I seen us win a title (that i can recall as I was too young)
Anyone from any team who doesnt hope that this year will be their teams year shouldnt be a football fan!!

Chelsea and City fans that say it really annoy me as without the £250M that was thrown there way in one go they'd never even have a sniff at a title.

It was paraphrasing in jest, christ think I may have touched a nerve.

Gerrard reels it out every year so why not mention it???
