The eclipse "test"

I hope this makes sense - this next week is the equivalent sunset times as will happen during the eclipse in August, so should give a decent idea as to how low in the sky the sun will be during totality. However August tends to be a lot dustier (hence the blood red sunsets) so even on clear days, the sun gets obscured as it sets, so might spoil the experience. On the other hand, will feel like the sun sets twice within the same half-hour and could make for fantastic viewing!

Yellow line is the line of the eclipse with the orange being sunset. If you are in the wrong position in San An the eclipse could be behind Sa Conellera island which is 60m (about 190') high - head north of town for a decent view it seems!

I was thinking of heading towards Cala Gracio, out on the rocks around there, looks like the best bet from what you have posted.
Those on the east side, Ibiza town, St. Eularia, PDB may well see nothing as the sun will be behind the hills. If anyone's around there it might be and idea, next week, to see if you can see the sun set from those places. Even from the top of the fort I don't think you can see the sun set (70m top of the fort, 390m the hills and they are directly in line).

May need a ton of buses to get people to the west, and the ferries to Formentera may well be packed!

If I wasn't on an organized eclipse hike with stivi, watching the eclipse from the northern part of Playa Illetes (on the narrow isthmus separating it from Playa Levante) would be very tempting for me. Albeit quite impractical for going there and then back, plus I am not the only person to be that smart 😅

Perfect place! Unfortunately there's nowhere on Formentera* where the eclipse will be above Es Vedra! On Ibiza itself, for that to happen you would need to be pretty close to the point of Llentrisca; but from there it would be a clear view of the eclipse anyway. I just hope my calculations are correct, if not blame suncalc.net!
*Might get it on the northern tip of Espalmador island

Just make sure the eclipse doesn't happen behind Es Vedra - that would be a mighty disappointment :D

I personally wouldn't want to watch it over Es Vedra. Because in that case, the sunset would likely be behind Es Vedra. It will be a very special sunset, with the setting sun being a crescent instead of a usual circle.

Yeah, it's difficult to know what the view will be unless you are in the correct location this week to test. It's a high enough island/mountain(!) to block the eclipse - certainly from sea level, but maybe if viewing from the top of the hill where the "panorama" was taken then possible the eclipse will be above Es Vedra (and a slightly later sunset than at sea level. I'm sure someone will be "testing" that out this week; would make such a fantastic picture of an eclipse directly above EV.

But I wouldn't go down that route unless I knew - for certain - the eclipse would be fully visible.
