"hey.....you.....you in the sandals carrying the semtex......stop right there!!"
I think said in an authoritative manner it would work!

Didn't work in London, not so long back.... then again, he wasn't wearing sandals, or semtex....

your'e right it is getting tedious and as Grego points out above, until we distance ourselves from America/Israel and their foreign policies and say "actually.....Israel.....thats out of order" it's going to continue. We didnt indiscriminantly bomb Dublin to flush out the IRA did we? So why are we sitting by and let Israel do the same to Lebanon? what are we afraid of??

Why woudl you expect Israel to listen to the Yanks or the Brits?

They don't bomb the hell out of Lebanon just because we 'let' them. It's all slightly more complicated than that.

Unfortunately that's just appeasement and it didn't work for Neville Chamberlain.

It certainly won't work with a bunch of death cultists who want to establish a - preferably global - totalitarian theocracy.

The last interview Osama Bin Laden gave to a Western journalist was done by the Independent's Robert Fisk in 1998. It's worth reading - particularly for the very clear way in which Bin Laden talks about "falling on the necks" of the infidel and "smiting" them wherever they may be.

The destruction of Israel would be just the start.

I agree with you on the most part....but the only way that we got anywhere with the IRA was with dialogue not force, I agree we are dealing with a different animal here, but Israel need to be "reigned in" because they are only fanning the flames at the moment, but even then there is a long, long way to go.

The irony is that the terror groups don't really give a sh*t what the "west" thinks.... Once the West starts trying to dictate democracy....the gap widens.......

I dont, In fact I think in a lot of ways it's israel that pull our strings if anything.....indirectly through america of course. But the us made bombs falling on lebanon are being dropped from F16's made in the us which stop off in england en route, your'e right it's far more complicated, than that and why would they listen to us? they're defending their "god given land" after all. That is of course if we were saying anything, which at the moment we aren't........mind you....you gotta hand it to Tone..........barbados v's emergency cabinet meeting"??? hmmmm I know what I would pick!

I feel slightly soiled in saying this but Israel are only doing our dirty work for us. It may well be necessary dirty work because, after our almighty f***-up in Iraq, we've just increased the Shia supremacist movement's power and reach by a factor of about a thousand. That's what Israel is fighting on our behalf - an expansionist Iran with a president bent on several appalling objectives, one of which is re-establishing some sort of Persian/Shia empire.

Al-Quaeda is of course a Sunni movement in origin, inspired by the Wahhabism of Osama's native Saudi Arabia. If Shia and Sunni ever put aside all their differences and work together against the Infidel, we're in trouble.

What I'd like to do is get Osama down to Bora Bora one afternoon. Hopefully the sight of all those beautiful girls in very small bikinis would either give the old monster a fatal heart attack at all that immorality, or he'd see the light, embrace house music and dancing, and issue a fatwa to all Muslims calling on them to loosen up, throw some shapes and stop worrying that the only way to have fun is to blow yourself up with lots of other people so you get 72 virgins and all the sherbet you can eat in heaven.

agreed and everytime we say "scumbags! how horrific! how can people do such thing" rather than trying to understand the reasons why it is taking place, then the gap widens and the situation deteriorates.

I think the proper word is "sold"

...and your country would do the same if you had some arms worth selling!

In any case, is it the gun that does the killing or the person wielding it?

True. There is little examination of the root causes. Too easy to fall back on the 'clash of civilizations' argument.

the shia's & sunni doctorines are fundamentally different though as I understand it...a bit like protestant & catholic? (correct me if im wrong) so no chance of them coming toghether anytime soon....and you dont have to die to go to heaven.....just jump on a plane to Ibiza and as you rightly say all the virgins (maybe not) and sherbet to can consume!!!;)

Now that would be good!

better that they raise the security level in my opinion, cause a bit of panic and inconvenience, than let an as yet undetected associate of those arrested go ahead with whatever it was they were planning, ahead of schedule before the net closes on him. I heard a bit on the news this morning parents were moaning about how they were going to amuse their children on the long haul flight. I would have thought if it was me Id be more worried about the actual real threat to my children. all very well for people to be blazé and cynical about things like this, but had 4 or 5 planes dropped out the sky today (and lets face it, we've seen it happen before) how would people have reacted. look at the way the US government could have prevented 9/11.

just my thoughts. this is the way things are now, and its never going to go away.

check the context in which i said it before you make a fool of yourself by sticking up for your country's actions.:spank: :spank:

i wasn't directly blaming the US or desiring an armoury like theirs, i was merely highlighting to x-amount the influence the US has on Israeli action...

now there's an Irony.....british troops killed by british bombs dropped from a harrier piloted by "top gun" trained us pilots.

My comment is valid even in that context

Furthermore, I was not sticking up for my country's actions.

And I agree with Dan that Israel often seems to have a bit more influence on American policy than vice-versa.
