Ten Walls Homophobic Rant....

I think someone played walking with elephants @ants last night vid on their instagram still a class tune even though the guy is a knob

I figure this will destroy his dj career, maybe not as a producer though. Dj's will still play his music if it's quality I think, but as far as bookings go, this Effin guys like walking herpes. Nobody will touch it lol

My reasoning for thinking this is just that I'm sure there are a lot of ppl who really just don't care. Do these comments bother me personally? Yes. As stated earlier, this scene is deeply rooted in gay culture, so I agree with whoever said something to the effect that your biting the hand that feeds you by making these comments. However, I feel as long as there's a lot of people that will look past it and still buy the music, the labels will keep making the money. There have historically been musicians that have said and done much worse. Clubs/venues on the other hand can't take the risk of booking someone with this newfound reputation. Just my thoughts. I don't know much about Ten Walls, for all I know he could have his own label, making my point a non-issue

On a similar vein to comments above it amazes me that there's a Belgian footballer who took part in a gang-rape and is still allowed to play and prosper at professional level. Be nice to have a bit of consistency at least.

There are people still playing the game (In England) who have killed people.

I get the sentiment - and pro-footballers are clearly bigger role models than DJs (at least for kids) - but I think the comparison is a poor one.

The dance community is very liberal, respectful & inclusive. Go to the terraces on a Saturday afternoon and you will see that homophobia, misogyny & racism are (sadly) still rife.

Where do you watch your football?

Eh?

Yeah I'll run out and do that just now.

And I was talking of Ilombe Mboyo not Ched Evans.

Do let us know how you get on!

I know exactly who you were talking about and I retorted with an example of someone that was closer to home hence me saying add him to the list. Christ Jack are you still on the session from the weekend!

It's a bizarre thing to say though. If someone dies in a freak accident it will be worse for that family than anything that happens to anyone else.

To me in terms of intent gang-rape is worse than killing someone accidentally behind the wheel. I didn't expect it to be so controversial to be honest and it's a strange world we live in when someone loses his career over idiotic comments but keeps his after what can be described as THE most disgusting, contemptuous and intrusive defiling of a female but I accept the differences between the two professions.

Anyway rather than arguing for arguing's sake  this is an Ibiza forum and yes it did go mental the weekend someone jumped in the pool fully clothed and ruined his iPhone and a large bag of something unspecified, a back door was off the hinges and I think someone was issued with a fatwa.

Sounds mental!!!

Still on the line up for Life and Death @ DC10 28.08 anyone know if he's playing or if not who is replacing?

Actually a very good read!

"The LGBT contribution to the dawn of house isn’t the whole story, but it’s the backbone, glitter and colour that often gets overlooked. The unsung influence of gay culture may not stem from conscious discrimination, but when a major contribution isn’t celebrated, that oversight can allow homophobia to flourish.

The roots of today’s dance music are definitely disco — be that EDM, dubstep, house or trance. Disco spawned the driving kick-drum and epitomised the escapism, abandon and release that should be at the heart of any decent dance tune"

Good article that ^. Imo The reason the music got disconnected from the black/gay roots is that kids all over the world starting making/sharing dance music on their computers without any knowledge of where it originally came from, so some guy in Russia inevitably isn't going to have that emotional connection or sensitivity to a movement he doesn't understand. Equally, some white fratboy in yankee suburbia who wouldn't be seen dead in the new york or chicago clubs is now into EDM when 10 years ago he might have been into the fckng foo fighters. The bigger electronic music gets, the more diluted it gets. There is no trace of the gay/black roots at some big dance festivals because the aesthetic is based on rock gigs, big corporate events with Bono's grinning gnashers all over them. Where you are watching an ego on a stage instead of dancing with each other!!!!! Oakenfold got the ball rolling mid-90s because he was 'inspired' by U2. And everyone since, guetta, the trance lot, Ibiza PLC, all of it has followed the same template. This has nothing to with sweaty sleazy basements where house evolved. The only thing in common is the crowd's willingness to get banjaxed.
