Tell us how it was - Ibiza 2024

Go where the light is ... the poster was promising.

Ok , I was curious. Was empty ( beginn of june ) , only 5 or 6 people in. No Dj , no hell on earth . , not interesting , no morbid fun.
Sound was charts crap and elevator techno.
I thought Lux Interior lookalikes are in. In reality there were magaluf tourists , clothed normally. I got 3 drinks and went out drunken.
Remember that it was not easy to get a taxi. This is nothing for me.

My favourite thing about that club is the fully branded mini-bus outside - I like to imagine it picking up 'when that couple who have you a pinger half an hour ago, give you that look' from around San An

Where are you talking about here? I'm intrigued...

Dates you were there: April 13-April 16 ("little" late to the game hereo_O)

Where you stayed: Montesol Experimental
Beautiful property, excellent location. The rooms were wonderfully detailed, from the little things like wall trimmings and décor to the big things like the views, linens, and bath products.

Club nights visited: Club Chinois
Only one night, as it was shoulder season and there was not much going on then. Can't remember who was playing but we were elated to be there and just vibing to the music. Crowd had one bachelorette party, some chic clubbers and a small core of people who stayed the night for music.

Best night: Our last night, 4/15 we had dinner at Hostal La Torre. Food was alright but the sunset made a physical and emotional impression on my girlfriend and I. We made friends with the resident cat and I may or may not have snuck her some pieces of my steak...

Worst night: Oh, come on.

Best bar: Sigh...no bars we wanted to go to were open (looking @ you Paradise Lost!) for the season

Best place to eat: Ca's Pages
Wow! Traditional Ibicencan food and, my god was it done well. Hearty, grilled meats. Clay pot potatoes and more meat—simple country fare but seriously soul-healing stuff. Lots of cats too which is always a plus...

Best beach and/or beach club: Montesol Experimental
Was quite nice. The drinks were stellar, food was alright. Very, very difficult to drive to though in a smart car—rough unpaved road made for some harrowing bumps...

Money spent: ~$1,175 per person

Biggest regret: N/A

Going back?: IN A MONTH!

Top tip: N/A

Observations and/or conclusion: Shoulder season was a fascinating time to visit - things are starting to wake up on the island and no hordes of rude tourists clogging the streets and otherwise behaving badly. Exploring the island's smaller towns is always an absolute joy. Just enough was open to make things interesting, but we really appreciated how quiet it was. The weather was just warm enough without being overbearingly humid or hot—but made for some iffy beach days. Lots of cats, wine, beats and sunsets.

Ready for more.
Agree the Montesol is fab.. Roof top is gorgeous, hidden gem. The hotels deco down to the mosaic tilling around the hotel, beautiful and so Iberian

Dates you were there: 15th-22nd July

Where you stayed: El Pinar Cala Llonga

Club nights visited: Clockwork Orange at Es Paradis

Best night: Es Paradis is still Beautiful, Music that made me smile, room to Dance. What’s not to like. It was brilliant

Worst night: Wasn’t one

Best bar: Can Happy for a cheap Beer, and the chiringuito on the Beach. Both in Cala Llonga. Took the Parents to the Golden Buddha and our eldest to CDM and Mambo for a Beer. He’s 16 so was well happy with that. Had a Beer in Ibiza Rocks Bar while waiting for the Parasailing

Best place to eat: Ate in Mint for Sunset, food was great to be fair. I’ve said it before but Flippers in Cala Llonga is a great little place. Lovely People and huge plates

Best beach and/or beach club: only did Cala Llonga for the beach. It’s gorgeous obviously 🌊

Money spent: was with the 2 boys so wasn’t cheap. Taking the youngest out of school by a week helped

Biggest regret: No regrets

Going back?: 22nd of September for 3 nights and staying round the Bay near Kumharas

Top tip: use the jellyfish app (which has been on my fone for a few years 😂)

Didn’t check it the 2nd day as was clear the first and the youngest and my mum both got stung. The next 5 days didn’t see another one 🪼

Observations and/or conclusion: the island was quiet. We used cabs 3 days for various trips and was no trouble at all. Sad to see more old favourites gone Bar/restaurant wise but for good or bad the island is always changing. It still has pockets of magic.

After 21 years I will always go back. It’s a special place that lives in my heart all year round.

How is El Pinar ?

How is El Pinar ?
That was our 2nd Year running staying there. Me and my Partner went for a Week a year ago and went back this year with our parents and the boys. Perfect for families. Perfect for anyone really

Not to far to walk to anything for our parents. Kids loved it.

The Hotel is Great. Breakfast was ace and we ate in the hotel restaurant once and again it was good. Staff Brilliant. Cant fault the place at all 😁

Dates you were there: Mid July (week)

Where you stayed: es mitjorn

Club nights visited: Defected @ Ushuaia, Clockwork @ Es Paradis, Space @ Eden (briefly)

Best night: Muscically Defected (DJ EZ, absolute perfection) but it was my first visit to Es Paradis, mindblowing venue and so perfect for Clockwork

Worst night: N/A

Best bar: Lazy choice, but probably Mambo, where else do you get to stand a meter away while David Morales plays ... for free.

Best place to eat: Bar Restaurante Benitez, a row back from the sunset strip and a small neighbourhood tapas bar. Excellent food, genuine service and gratitude that we visited ... (3 times!)

Best beach and/or beach club: Bambuku, don't judge me, we went to the Hed Kandi day (long story) ... was actually really good fun, service was great and overall not expensive at all.

Money spent: Not much <£3k

Biggest regret: Not making it back to Bossa for the Clockwork party at Tanit

Going back?: Obviously, already booked next year.

Top tip: Again, uninspiring, but Mambo, why wouldnt you .... and seek out the bars/cafe's/restuarants down the side streets ... loads of hidden gems. Also the Reggae, reggae bar on the beach, round the cove in San An, get the ferry across, have a beer (on the ferry) and enjoy the beach there.

Observations and/or conclusion: Feels like there is now a pronounced two tier economy in Ibiza. You can pay mental money at certain beach clubs/restaurants or for bottle service in clubs ... or you can plan, keep it tight and have a fantastic, authentic trip without breaking the bank.

Did you like Mitjorn? What is it like today? I've stayed there about 150 nights in the first ten years when I visited the island, but I haven't been there since then.. The manager of the hotel at the time, Toni, once asked me and my friend to join the historic tomato war on the beach and we joined the locals, as hired "Viking warriors". One of my best Ibiza memories that also ended up on the pages of the local newspaper, where we made faces in a half-page picture! 😅

Ha! ... that's awesome. I suspect the hotel is much as you left it. Little more than (an exceptionally well run) guest house, very low key, definitely not 'luxe' but all the key elements are in place. It's much about the location really, as everything (at least in San An) is accessible on foot - possibly why we had a few 'familiar faces' staying there too ...

Dates you were there: 18-23rd of July

Where you stayed: 3 nights all inclusive at Palladium Palmyra San an bay, superb as always and a great location. 2 nights in a new find Es Puerto Ibiza town, ideal for that side of the island, ultra modern and the roof top pool and bar is a real bonus, spent loads of time up there.

Club nights visited:
Clockwork at Es Paradis. Just immense! When that club goes off its amazing, superb sets from all Dj's.
Bushwacka at Pikes. Another immense night, rammed everywhere but still room to dance and get served at the bar quick. Bushwacka's driving house and Techno was perfect for my ears!
Clockwork beach party at Tanit. Another memorable afternoon/evening dancing on the sand, such a great vibe and up for it crowd.
Mambo for Jason Bye at sunset, then Louie Vega

Best night:
All of them for different reasons.
Saturday night wandering around the old town for food at la Bodega and drinks all over was great. Especially for my friend who's never been to Ibiza. Tour guide mode in full effect!

Worst night:
None.

Best bar:
Old town Ibiza people watching bars, too many to name.

Best place to eat:
Tapas in San an. Unbelievably good food and service. Try the chick pea curry from heaven!

Best beach and/or beach club:
Tanit PdB

Money spent:
About £2k all in I reckon

Biggest regret:
Not going to Space for the Es Paradis after party

Going back?:
Definitely next July, hopefully before then.

Top tip:
Pace yourselves, rest when you can!
Support the local restaurants and bars, they seemed quiet overall.

Observations and/or conclusion:
Definitely less British over there, whether they cant afford to go or they're trying new places?

Love and always look forward to the Old Town wander about... Bars / people watching, you could be in 1994 or 2024, some streets never change, well within reason.. Rollllll on September to do it all again! Glad you had a great trip..

Ah we were staying at El Pinar the same time as you. It’s ace. Tenth year for us.

Got back last night from a very hot 10 days, me, the wife, two out of three kids (15 and 10) and also had the mother in law in tow.

We stayed at the Vibra Riviera hotel in Cala de Bou. The apartment we stayed in was basic, bathroom needed a revamp, these are separate to the main hotel. The mother in laws room in the main hotel was nicer. Top marks to the hotel for the food, it was very good. Plenty of space around the pools and always got a sun bed. They didn’t have any issue with music being played poolside either.

No big nights out as the kids were with us but having the mother in law there did allow us to sneak off a couple of nights for late night bar drinking, although we did drift into Eden one night as it was Worried about Henry and I am partial to a bit of dnb.

Restaurants, we always pay a visit to hostal la torre and Tigre Morado, both as good as usual on this trip and delivered the perfect sunset meal. Had a really good burger on the seafront in Santa Eulalia, but can’t remember the name.

kids loved the usual go on the slingshot.

Taxis were hit and miss, but no real issues just some long waits here and there.

Not the best review but all in all it was a lazy and very hot by the pool holiday.

Was Can Nuts open? We popped across to CL last year and I was going to treat missus but it was shut sadly. Remembered you recommending it 2/3 years back

Yes indeed they’re still going. Seem to be doing really well. They close on Tuesdays but not sure how long they stay open towards the end of the season.

The water is indeed beautiful on a calm day. Some of the elevated views from the other side down to the bay are incredible.
