Never said we need a drink to chat. We enjoy it - simple as that!

I think it's slowly become our culture in the UK. I wonder what the French would score, they've been caning it for centuries

Drew, for your comment it looked like you need a drink to chat and avoid the sofa. Or you need to chat and drink to avoid the sofa.

No, not at all in both cases.

If we don't sit and drink, we'll usually do anything except watch TV all evening. We'll maybe go to the gym, go visit people, do some sorting out etc.

I don't think the frenchs are stronger drinkers than you, to be honest. And I know enough the country and I've spent 5 months in Paris so I think you are talking about a stereotype! ;)

Actually according to the World Health Organisation Drew is right.

In a bid to not disappoint Buckleys image of me  I just looked up the WHO figures for average alcohol consumption. The uk at 10.4 litres came in below both spain (12.3) and France (13.5).

Scoobie, how did the USA rank?

I would expect the average to be slightly lower because of the legal drinking age.

Then again ...... not sure how relevant that is as i imagine most 'underage' to drink behind closed doors.

Anyhow, i'm off home for a drink.

Oops! I meant lay on the sofa watching TV until my eyes turn square ..... while the missus makes my dinner (or tea as we say up here ;) )

I got one, but that's more to do with being skint and having a quick pint bought for me at lunchtime!

Normally about 23. But for the 2 weeks after payday I can imagine it can reach 60 or 70.

Not to bad a drinker these days! Actually enjoy feeling fresh in the morning!

Hmm, 44 when I don't gig on Sundays.........

..........32 when I do, don't drink when gigging.

Maybe I should get more gigs during the week as well, more money, better health. 'Course I go out running several times per week to offset it. :D

Hiya Drew ... agree with you about the enjoyment of a drink after a hard day at work .. I really need to cut down during the week !!! (I'll be turning into an alcoholic .. still, at least it's legal ;) )

Right .. no wine tonight .. or my bedtime treat of a liquer coffee !
