Summer style 2005

Hi,

what do you think the summer in Ibiza 2005 will bring us ?

Last year is was clearly funky with an electro push.

I guess funky, groovy, jazzy house all over.

i sense techno is gonna get even bigger than it already has last year.

house wise it's probably gonna be funky house with still alot of electro influence.

and speaking of electro - it's sounds will continue influencing also trance and techno (same story as in 2004)

I reckon techno's going to get bigger too, a lot of the funky stuff this year has verged on it. And about time too I say. Although I do love my funky stuff.

I might even find myself jumping on the 'trance is dead' bandwagon next year, it might be my age but I'm finding it a bit too hard and heavy at the mo.

go for the more melodic uplifting vocal trance then (above & beyond, smith & pledger, armin van buuren, etc).

trance has alot of different sub genres u know.

I myself don't like the harder trance styles that much either, but there's a long way from there until i'll be jumping on the "trance is dead" bandwagon (actually been on this bandwagon in between 2001-2003 and then changed my mind).

Yeah I know, but I find most vocal trance a bit too cheesy. Something a bit softer without sounding like a Dave Pearce track. I'm sure I'll find something. I'm not prepared to give up on it yet, after all these years.

An example of a trance track I've liked in recent times: Motorcycle, When the Rush Comes. Gentle, trancey and euphoric without being 'Nu-Trance' (copyright gap-toothed gypsy w*nker).

I know I plug it a lot, but I think psy-trance is gonna be a biggie, if not in 2005 then definately in 2006. Check out the cover CD by John '00' Fleming on the latest copy of DJ mag- it's pretty good (but not the best I've ever heard). He's been slipping snippets of psy-trance into his sets of late, and played a fair bit of it at Global Most Wanted @ Privelege this summer :D

I think that the electro/acid/breaksy house will be back for 2005, what with nights such as Nastydirtysexmusic on the up and tunes such as Alter Ego:: Rocker and the Tiefschwarz dub of Kinda New being such crossovers hits played by a whole spektrum (excuse the pun) of DJs it has appeal to a mix of folks.

Altough it is not a recognised genre it is what i would describe as 'Rogue House'

;)

I'm in with your thinking, breaks breaks breaks, techno, dirty house and acid.

That may be so Mr. Sun but I'm afraid I think it's a pile of pap. And my opinion is all that matters in gingerfreakville. :P

And of course, you're entitled to your opinion..... even if it is blatently wrong :P
