Not really into wine at all tbh, but I spent a lazy day last May being driven around Sonoma sampling various tipples. Would love to do it again.

Got some yesterday. Don't usually have Rioja (not sure why!) but will maybe uncork one this weekend. :D

This is a little off topic. If a bottle of Rioja cost 3 euro in Euro in Spain and 7 quid in England or 3 for a tenner? Do people in England feel that they are getting ripped off?

we are big time, the idea of wine being 'posh', import & taxation costs contribute.

in france, the super market are stocked full of wines at 4 euros that you would pay 10 quid for in the uk.

Damn nice it is too! Thanks for the tip off (whoever it was)!
It was me !
I don't usually buy Rioja in the uk,mainly because I don't like spending more than a fiver on a bottle, most that I've tried have been a disapointment, however in spain even sub 3 euro examples have been good.

must go to asda tomorrow....

mcguigan estate shiraz seems to always be on offer in Sainsburys, @ £4.99, its a bloody good drop.

also you can buy a decent red rioja called monteciello in Lidl for under a fiver.

Argentinian Malbec is one of my favorites too. morrisons do a good one for about £7

Got a lovely case of Camden Park Malbec (picture of a bull on it) this Xmas.

I think you can get it in Asda for about £7/£8, but it is really, really good.

I admit i know very little about wine apart from the fact i like these:

Red:
Valpollicello
Malbec
Rioja
Barolo

White:
Chablis
Sancerre
Pinot Grigio

I tend to chose the brand if i think that the label on the bottle is pretty.

Plus i like red wine slightly cold.

I think you have picked the 3 best whites there, not that I know much or drink it much, im more a red man. Rioja by the way is the region of spain the wine comes from, eg like a bordeaux. You can get white rioja as well. Red riojas tend to be made from Tempranilo or Granache grapes. Thats as much as I know.

Jacobs Creek do a fizzy shiraz which is lovely chilled.

I'll keep an eye open for that, it sounds right up my street. :D

I like Chablis because you can almost guarantee it will be good, regardless of the label etc.

I first tasted Sancerre in Marrakech years ago but struggled to find it in many places afterwards but you can get it everywhere nowadays.

1. Is the taste reasonable?

2. Do you start to wobble around a bit half way through?

Good wine, end of. 8)
