Space Closing 2016

Music's great but honestly would probably on the 1er Etage Sunset Terrace or El Salon long time ago wishing I'd stayed away till morning ... know my limits and never been able to stand crowds as packed as that, I can't even use the tube at rush hour for 3 stops ! Well done for toughing it out haha.

yep, me too. I would be chain smoking MLs on the Premier Etage

So the car park is clearing big time! Dread to think what inside looks like but can imagine it's sardine central! Waiting for Alfredo but looks like a no show! Will wait outside until it's reasonable inside I think...

Definitely time to clear the ironing pile and finish the filing before coming back to Discoteca stream lol - Carl Craig in there right now, still one of my least favourites - manages to play a set I generally don't like with the odd tune I do like thrown in it every time !!

Probably the first review of the party :) as Mrs SeoulSaint and I are now back in our hotel in Figueretas.

We arrived very early doors at around 4:40, and the queues to get in were minimal; ten minutes tops. We had no problems with the tickets purchased from the space site either. We first went to space in 2001, and even after all these years I still don't have a clue the names of the rooms are or how to get from one dance floor to the next!

Anyway, we stayed in the outside for the first few hours and there was a nice flow of djs with plenty of lighter sounds. We were quite looking forward to Barbara Tucker though so we wandered in to see her. Sadly though she sounded a bit ropey. Probably best to put that one down to a dodgy mic ;-)

A bit later we went back outside to see Steve Lawler; whatever happened to him? His sound seems to have got darker and techier, which isn't really my thing. Years ago he was much bouncier and even smiled.

After Lawler, it was back inside for a bit of relief by way of Bob Sinclar, then Peasy & Block with more real dance tunes rather than that awful techno durge. Kings of Tomorrow, Finally was fantastic.

We rounded off the night with a few random walk abouts in the smaller rooms and then half an hour of Morrilo, which was thoroughly enjoyable, particularly as we'd always made a point of going to his subliminal nights years ago at Pacha. If ever there's a guy that knows how to work a crowd, it's Erick.

Would've stayed longer but the outside was gridlocked and I was content that I'd paid my regards to such a fine club one last time.

All in all a superb afternoon/evening and well worth the cost. Will pop back mid morning if there is a sensible ticket offer. On the way out there only seemed to be about 40 or 50 people in the queue which was a bit surprising, as I imagined it would've been way more. Anyway thanks for the info on this thread and enjoy the rest of the night you crazy spotlight kids.

So meet up happening right now still? I'm in the car park for a breather and it looks beyond horrendous just waiting to get inside. Everyone ok?

Glad you had a good time - just on Lawler how long ago are you remembering ? His sound went very dark and tribal at the end of the '90s / early 2000s - round about the time this came out showcasing both his incredible mixing talents and capturing the very deep and dark tribal sounds which became his signature :

Style was up and down after that phase but he's been both techy and often dark for a VERY long time now (16-18 years lol)... can see his style ain't your thing but his set was some of the best stuff I've tuned into on the streams all night !

I wimped out at 2am. Music was great but didn't matter where I was, I was being pushed and bumped all the time and just couldn't enjoy that. Sat by the exit for about half an hour thinking once I go there's no going back, but no matter what going back inside just didn't appeal. I know I'll regret it tomorrow when I hear the stories from those made of stronger stuff than me.

6am or so entry's the only way to go if you can't handle being pushed, shoved and generally feeling like a sardine or aren't happy to sit out the crush for hours in a quiet corner somewhere away from the dancefloors ! Whatever some people say it's no shame to go into clubs very late when crushing affects you badly, been doing it for many years in Ibiza even out of closing times - Amnesia on a busy night almost never before 5am ;)

Re Lawler, a mate of mine booked him a few times to do Far East Asian gigs around 10 years or so ago when I lived there. His sets in those days were much more accessible but maybe that was the exception rather than his normal style. As those parties were casino style events for rich kids.

I'm absolutely disappointed in the organisation and queue. My friend had a fit in the queue and everyone shouted for help and not one single person come to help, disgusting.. luckily it wasn't serious and she recovered once we got her back up on her feet

He likely cut his cloth to fit the occasion I guess - boyo's very versatile but he's got some really dark leanings, some of the most menacing tracks I've ever heard played out have come off his decks. He went very easy on the Car Park tonight :D
