Imo Solomun playing everywhere for everyone is a bit too much. Not really sure it's gonna work like this for many years tbh. Remind me few years ago Luciano did the same, but it didn't last for many years. Love is sound a lot but waiting to see in 2,3 years time if he still managed to fill up every venue. Just Sven and Carl has been able to be on top packing in and out their recidency for around 15 years and they never play 50 gigs in one summer :-)

I do agree with what you're saying. Same thing with Loco Dice.

But I think Solomun is a slightly different kettle of fish, though. Since his (main) residency is Pacha. And a lot of the underground crowd who would otherwise see him are put off purely based on the Pacha association.

Thing is, he is at the top of his game. His sound came to the fore front just at the right moment, maybe backlash / boredom of other sounds. He has a great team around him, with the likes of HOSH, August et al. I like 75% of the stuff he plays, plus he is quite versatile and can play soft/hard whenever he wants.
Residency or not, its nice to see him elsewhere imo

Incidentally, how would one describe his sound? Its just good music to me.

Completly agree with you, he is at the top if his game . His sound is amazing and he has a great team around him but still , will it last? Look at all the dj that were playing cocoon before( hawtin, dice,Luciano, carola) they were all amazing in cocoon in my opinion . They all started their own recidency with great team , good sound, it has work for some for a few years but now they are all struggling to get number in. The only exception is carola but that is completly different, he will remain strong i think just because the Island is full if italien and italien are very loyal

Fair point, but who knows?
Plenty of high profile dis gone before.

I know was different for Sven night, but I am ***guessing*** the usual pattern tonight:

0000-0130 Pacha Resident
0130 - 0330 The +1
0330 - 0600 Solomun
0600 - Close Solomun B2B +1

yeah very likely to be that way. anything other than that would be a surprise.

Love solomun but just wasn't feeling the music last night . Wasn't the worst set but didn't go to a level I was hoping for . Left at 5 did it get better for anyone who stayed till the end ?
Or is this his style for pacha ( lovely looking club and people but not a great atmosphere IMO ) so maybe he is playing for that type of crowd!
Any thoughts ?

Just wanted to chime in and say that i was at solomun and sven, and met up with stivi ...cheers!..the night was very good...but VERY busy. Had there been room to properly dance it probably wouldve ended as my top night in ibiza in the last couple years. That being said it was still great! While ive never experienced pacha or any club in ibiza as packed as that was, it was packed with far less annoying asshole VIP types than normal solomun +1s (this is my 3rd) Solomun played a good warmup set, albeit predictable. Sven then came in and really blew the top off, he was excellenet and I thought he was not very good (my taste) at Cocoon when Solomun joined him (i was there for both). Later in the night after the b2b Sven let Solomun finish the last 20-30 minutes solo and it ended still Wall to Wall at 8. I went immeadiately to the after party at Tox and Tox was actually quite busy but finally enough room to dance down there. They kept the vibe going, and it was bouncing when i left at Noon...All in all it was fantastic! Sven really took the cake, me and Stivi werent together when Sven took the decks but we both messaged each other with a bit of a Wow! to Sven's start...think he started with a Kevin Saunderson song and then it was the Leon Vynehall- House of Dupree song that been getting a bunch of play. Pacha was definitely ready!! ;)
