Solomun +1 @ Pacha 2017

not on the same pic and while he was in the VIP I was down where the actual magic happens :)

I'm with you, I've never really got the fascination with being in the booth. How was it musically on Sunday? Dixon and Solomun takes some beating.

at pacha they didn't blow me away. some good music, but not everything was amazing. the kave was a different beast though.

I know this one was an all night B2B, but how is Solomun playing generally this year? Pushing a harder sound like last season?

to my ears pretty similar to last year. I haven't been that many times this year yet I have to say and maybe I got used to the 'harder sound', so to my ears he doesn't actually sound hard.

Quite like the way Dixon has broken away from wearing shirts all the time and has now gone with a gangster gold chain. fair play to the lad

think he'll push it up slightly for Cocoon?

Rubbish! This is a 2013 view. Think we can all agree nobody at say Maceo or Solomun's nights scales back their sound when they play there.

this is true. I don't think they really play differently. in the case of solomun it works - his sound is exactly on the edge between being underground and just a tiny little mainstream.

on the maceo plex (mosaic) subject, currently the spanish call it 'vacío plex' (vacío means empty). their pretty 'advanced' or shall I say 'experimental' line ups just don't resonate with the pacha crowd and as we had discussed lots already, tuesday's tough. so far it really hasn't worked out for them the way it should. it's a bit like wisdom of the glove really.

Thats kinda what I mean..^^ didn't I read somewhere on here that they play megatron or whatever its called in oneof the rooms now too..

Such a shame in some ways, but as you say, maybe too experimental and the Tuesday thing isn't helping. Did the €36 tickets help last night to up the numbers?

not really. keep in mind coxy packing it out plus eric prydz having deadmau5 as guest...tough stuff.

Maceo Plex was on Pete Tongs show a few months ago and was saying it was a risk and he had gone for an experimental line up, so when I heard that and saw the line ups I thought it was all a bit odd. Based on Pacha 'knew' what was in store I wonder how it is doing compared to the expectation?

I may be wrong here, but I still believe there is a long term gap in the market for a night like this at Pacha [Mosaic/Maceo]. I may be talking boll*cks, but from the few times I went last year the crowd knew their music, they are slightly older and probably don't want to be crushed on a DC10 terrace.

At the end of the day Pacha have every kind of night across the musical spectrum, so what could they replace it with?

Pacha in my view could be cleverer with this night. Think the kind of Enter.Sake stuff that Richie does, or the dine-dance stuff at Heart. They took a musical gamble, but maybe should take more gambles around how to fill the club. Give the kids some free tickets and charge the richer Heart type crowd €250 for some kind of package.

[apologies this is a Solomun thread]
