Naah it's great - you just have to know where to go.
If you frequent places in Hoxton Sq on a Friday night then you'll find the place is awash with loads of jumped up tw*ts wearing bowler hats at jaunty angles etc...basically like the ones you describe.
I was in Zigfrid last Friday and it was almost like leicester sq with silly clothes and lots of attitude.
(still better than soho tho![]()
)
But please don't let this put you off - the 'Shoreditch tw*t' slogan comes from a freebie mag that was given out in about 96 so it's not a new phenomenon.
Shoreditch still rocks - Bethnal Green/Shoreditch has a higher concentration of artists living in it than anywhere else in Europe. Sundays in Shoreditch rock (esp the old blue last/George & Dragon/Trailer Trash)! I've never found a place to be so accessible and friendly than this - it's like a house party type affair with friends - and there's a complete absense of Burton styleey clothes and men in clubs wearing suits.
I've also had enough od minimal now...and thankfully the above no longer play it. Phew.
Oh and buy buy buy because housing prices will rocket over the next few years!![]()
Errr yeah back to the point chaps!!!!
Well I suppose the internal debate I am having is where else in London is there that i would enjoy living in more?....Like London Bridge but a little low key, like parts of West London but v.expensive and places like S.Ken which I dont mind once in a while would get on my tits as if I had to go out there all the time...
I suppose if I move there my aim would be to actually meet local people who are fun,friendly and actually make new friends in my area but guess Im just a little wary of living there and finding out that everyones head is a little too far up there own ass....got nothing against people being trendy or cool just with them being too self concious about it and looking down on people without a Hoxton Fin!
I cant quite explain it (which maybe why I am rambling!) but having lived in London all my life, but in relatively quiet suburbian area have always wanted to live in a place with a bit of a community and so guess that is why it is quite important to me, particularly given that I love the music policy of the Shoreditch clubs
(PS what are they playing if not minimal?)
Having said that the reason i got put of Ldn Bridge is that most of the plces we saw were new builds full of city professionals (even though I am one), which is quite bland
