Sh!t happening before you go on hols...

Not next to those 25yr old Italians you wont!!!

I thought we were more or less free of the Italians by September?

BTW Helen, you have me seriously reconsidering meeting up while there! I'm afraid something terrible will happen to me ;)

Damn. You quoted that before I deleted it  Had a 'feeling sorry for myself' moment when I wrote that.

Romney not getting elected would be good.

And yes, I suppose the upside is I'll look the thinnest I've ever looked in Ibiza.

Chin up, I won't have time to get to the boat party or goto Ibiza this year. I'm jealous, but glad there will be a yank there.:)

Well my '**** happening' story started yesterday.

I had a doctors appointment to check out some swelling on my right leg, within a few hours I was at my local hospital having blood tests to diagnose if I've got DVT. Blood tests are inconclusive so am awaiting a scan now to confirm.

If diagnosed with DVT I won't be able to go on my trip to Ibiza 1st October:eek:

Was gutted when I was told this, but there is still light at the end of the tunnel as it's not confirmed yet;)

Please everyone keep their fingers crossed for me:)

In a way I'd rather stuff go wrong before I set off, if it means I lose the air-fare (around £150 usually) and a night's deposit, it's a bit bobbins but nothing like if something goes wrong over there and you spend the entire time in hospital, or a police station 'cos your stuffs been nicked etc etc.

I often travel solo, so if something goes wrong there's no back-up, so I'm ultra careful not to drink too much, or spend too much time in the middle of the road hoping noone's gonna hit me!

Simple precautions like one card in the safe and carry one - so if one gets nicked there's a spare, copies of passport, insurance docs etc, and the European Health Card is a must!

I'd hate to be left stranded if (and when) an airline goes bust, or another volcano erupts, or I can't get to the airport.....cue lots of pre-research to neurotic levels r/e boats to Valencia/Barcelona, trains to Paris, London...home.....and worry about the £1000 extra on the credit card when I get back!

I do too and know the feeling, but can't say I abide by quite the same degree of caution ! Probably take far too many risks and occasionally have a nightmare - but most of the time things work out fine.

I've got 12 days. I could lose another kilo or two by then!

 ... you don't want to look anorexic by the time you arrive .. that's reserved for those of us who have wasted away in the sunshine already !!

I hadn't actually realised how many things have happened to me before I posted that! I do go away about 4 or 5 times every year so it's not as bad as it looks and it's normally me rather than someone else that they happen to so don't worry

Some interesting reads here  almost makes you be that all the more 'cautious' when on holiday.

Thankfully *touch wood* myself personally i have been ok on holiday, no real dramas apart from a bad lot of sun stroke in Zante :spank: my own ignorant fault...

Malia, year before last with the girls, 2 days before the end of the holiday we stupidly got 3 quads and stupidly i thought i could drive one with 2 other people on AFTER i had a fair few drinks and thought i would be 'fine' to drive....then whilst speeding down the road all laughing our heads off i take a left turn and forget cars would be coming up on the right, before i know it, ive hit the front of another quad and my 2 mates fly off the back, i though they were ok, as it wasnt that harder hit.....WRONG - my mate was in absolute agony, throwing up, screaming in pain - i was horrified, a restaurant owner kindly pulled us off the road, my mate scurried back with the quad, incase the police came.

We settled my mate and thankfully for my sake she decided to go back to the hotel and sleep and see how she was in the morning - that was possibly the worst night of my life seeing my best mate in such a horrible state coz of my stupid error :spank: next day, hospital trip and x rays and thankfully it was just a severely bruised hip, so she went on crutches for the last 2 days, but this didnt stop her from raving with her crutches haha

Had some bad traffic whilst getting a lift to the airport once, had to get out and get the train...
Unbelievable I know...

... ... Going through the worst bout of depression I've ever had. Lost 6.5 kilos in 6 weeks.
Ibiza in a week and a half and I'm worried I just won't be very much fun to be around.
Suppose if I spend the whole week drunk off my ass it won't matter too much.

c´mon - garbi isn´t THAT bad

I got the all clear today, so it's Ibiza here I come and I can't wait8)

Went back to the UK for a weekend with old friends and managed to hyper-extend / dislocate my elbow after a fair few beers.
It went straight back in but this is how it looked 2 days later. I have an MRI booked for Thursday.

It's gone a nice yellowy purple, and diclofenac is currently my best friend.

This year I'll be taking blepharitis on holiday with me - got a couple of cysts in one eyelid (not noticeable), but developing a big saggy bag under the other eye (noticeable, I think; though I'll mostly be wearing sunglasses during the day or be in dark clubs at night). Apart from that, it's unwise for me to wear contacts, so I'm stuck with my specs... On the plus side, I'll probably look a bit more intelligent.
