Sankeys Open New Club in Ibiza

Reading this thread made me sign up to the forum! I agree with the comments made by Craig & Alfonse.

I'm interested in finding nights that have good music, aren't overpriced and aren't all about the VIP nonsense and minimal 'too cool to smile' music.

I'd be very interested to find out more details about Sankeys and any other nights that fit the bill. Last time I went to Ibiza was in 2002, a lot seems to have changed since then! Looking at vids on Youtube from some of the big clubs is depressing... Boring music and way overcrowded.
 
Nice one fizzle. I agree. I've found recently (and not just in Ibiza but London as well) that lots of people seem to go to nights to be seen rather than to enjoy them...It might just be me getting old but there seems to be lots of people who think they are too cool for school rather than just enjoying the music and throwing their hands in the air! Roll on Sankeys.
 
I think you get those kinds of people at any club. Best just to ignore them!

Aside from Pacha, I don't think the VIP culture is that significant in Ibiza. Eg. does anyone really notice who's in VIP at Amnesia or Space? I don't.

The good thing about the new Sankey's venue is convenient location (if in PdB), decent main room (could use better sound) and nice roof terrace for breaks (assuming they can open it due to noise issues). If they keep the drink and entry prices down it might do OK.

I forget which season but a few years ago there was a good Wednesday night party going on there where I saw Anja Schneider and Damian Lazarus, among others. It didn't get that full but the music was good and fun vibe.

i think the likes of Sankeys would beef up the sound system before they opened up, this will be one of the best nights on the island probably, will definitely take the time out to visit this place

I think it might be an age thing too! The nights I remember being great were the long DJ sets by the likes of Roger Sanchez & Danny Tanaglia...

I'm seriously considering giving all the big clubs a miss this time and just seeking out more genuine experiences -a shame, but I've just not seen anything listed (so far) that makes me moist! Some of the best times I've had in Ibiza were the days after a big night out anyway, bimbling round the islands chillout bars etc! Fingers crossed for Sankeys putting on some decent events. I've got high hopes too of being able to get in to Ushuaia, hope the events there aren't just for hotel guests...

Anyway, Ibiza is still magic, I've no worries on that front. Just being on the island is enough for me! :D

I've managed to lose a post earlier but basically I'd said I'd feared it bomb, because if you took the capacity of Sankeys x 2 as Sankeys regular crowd, the times it by the percentage of them in Ibiza at any one time, and added the number of non-Sankeys crowd who would choose it over the various global brands it'll be competing against you'd come up with a very small number.

I reckon there's at least one Sankeys fluffer on this thread - word to the wise, do the maths as above. You'd be better to do something in San An, get the workers on your side and then try and get an in with one the big boys to do a room at Space or similar. Or if you can get some reasonable names to do it, see if you can get Eden, or dp the back room.

I'm sure Sankeys has some massive DJs as guests, but I'd be amazed if they'd play in competiton to Space on it's doorstep.
 
Just read MCAttacks original link and now realise it's going to be a Sankeys club rather than just a single night. Strengthens my guestimations above. Dilute the pull calculation over multiple nights and it doesn't seem a goer to me.

But, maybe they've signed up some big, big brands who think they can take on Space et al. Can't imagine who...

I'm sure they'd do it like Love did. Concentrate on a couple of big nights and either not open or schedule filler for the others.

maybe they will get your pal and mine Roach back there mate! i seem to remember him doing some ill fated do there a few years back!

Died on it's arse though, didn't it? I never went so correct my perception if it's wrong.
 
But sankeys got voted the world number 1 club last year didnt it?.... thats how it'll be massive in ibiza....
cant say it'll be something i'd go to unless they pull something out the bag... never that big a fan of the one in manchester really. tribal sessions on friday used to be alright but nothing special.
