Sankeys Open New Club in Ibiza

with the amount and the quality of exclusivities already signed from other major clubs in Ibiza, i can't see how Sankeys will pull this one off...

Not read the whole thread but is it going to be an actual club open 7 days week or are they just promoting 1 night at this club?

The latter would be the best way to break into the market surely?

Died on it's arse though, didn't it? I never went so correct my perception if it's wrong.
They had one or two nights that did OK for a while but I think most of them didn't make it halfway through the season.

Just checked my old review - it was June 2007 when the venue was called Diva, and Underclub was the night in question. Had a halfway decent crowd one night and was empty the next week.

But the idea was good (if promotion not quite up to snuff) - pick one of the weaker nights (that year it was Wednesday) and exploit it with some good up-and-coming DJs and good pricing policy.

would be better if they started doing one night a month i reckon, then see how it goes, didn't realise it was gonna be a Sankeys club open 7 nights of the week, that is dangerous

I think that will be the key - compete by doing something different. All the branding you see at lesser known club nights usually looks pants e.g. LE masque 2 years ago. If they can keep it cheap, get some good names in and promote it well then who knows it might do alright.

Nope.. it's right in PdB. Straight up the sidestreet that starts across from Garbi hotel.
That street is the dividing line between the Eivissa and San Jose municipalities.

Good luck to them. That building is cursed. But since we usually stay in Garbi I wouldn't mind somewhere convenient to pop over to if there's nothing better going on.

Whats the one called on the front at Figueretas then ?

That might be the confusion.

Sankeys was previously called Somny many years ago (also Kiss, Love, Diva, Le Masque, etc.!)
somni is now on the beach in fig..i was there in febuary for the bordello night..bordello is now in grail on fridays..

Like other people said it could do well, if they keep prices reasonable, especially as most of the other clubs charge such ridiculous prices! Theyll need to promote it well though to push it, and probably wouldnt pay off to rush the opening.

Maybe they should get some good underground DJs like Wolf + Lamb, Deniz Kurtel, Craig Richards, Agoria, Eddie Richards, Mr C, Terry Francis, Akufen, October, Nina kraviz, Len Faki, Heidi etc

What about a drum and bass night? Might pay off with its popularity at the moment. Or maybe a night concentrating on the minimal side of dubstep - stuff like Four Tet, Pinch, Appleblim, Ramadanman, Pearson sound etc

Maybe some live bookings like Portishead, Massive Attack, Underworld, Orbital could be interesting! Or what about a trance night more on tech trance lines like Marco V, Sander Van Doorn, Rank 1, Marcel woods etc?

I don't think this could be the wisest move, as its been said, numbers through doors could let it down, Seeing monza is there though would be a massive boost and put it on the radar of non English people who may never of heard of it, but thats only one night.

If you go to Sankeys in manchester they have a lot of people that play in Ibiza for different nights already such as We Love, they also put on nights such as Zoo Project and Circo Loco which they wont be doing in Ibiza.

They do currently have a trance night every now and then which is the most popular night in Sankeys by far but thats Gareth Emery who is playing for Be@SPace this year.

I love Sankeys but im not sure i would visit it in Ibiza when its a 20 minute taxi ride away at home two nights a week!.
