San Antonio for the sunset

I'm a bit over the whole mambo sunset thing, with having a car again this year I'm thinking of sunset ashram or benirras. Any input from people who've been to ashram/benirras to someone who hasn't is welcome :)

For Benirras, i think if you haven't been before its worth seeing on a Sunday but parking is a bit mental. I think if you get there a little early and find a good parking spot up the hill on the right as you drive in, then be patient a wait a little while after sunset and let the crowds disappear before attempting to drive out. Once made the mistake of trying to leave immediately after sunset while folk were still arriving and it was hairy to say the least! Any other night its definitely worth going along, its certainly an upgrade from the usual sunset strip spots. Nice restaurants in the area too.

Benirras is a good spot @framch30 but gets very busy. Especially Sunday. The pirate tower at Cala D'hort is a superb location. Regarding San An locations we did the sardines night at the aquarium, Cap Blanc last year. You don't get a direct view of the sunset from the tables but it's a decent spot for something different. Roughly €14 and all you can eat! Going to head to Cala Conta this year to the chiringuito and probably La Torre to either catch Mark Barrott or Andy Wilson on duties.

La Torre also on my list just a bit miffed i missed the boat on it as a spot before Mambo took it over...

Cheers for the info, much appreciated. Think I'd like to give benirras a try this year although it wouldn't be a Sunday due to other plans. Are there other restaurants aside from Elements on Benirras or would eating away from the beach be a better idea, Portinax or Sant Miguel?

Elements gets a shit name on here but I've never been. There are loads of famous restaurants on the sant joan road not far off.

I like this little place nearby.

Its easy to find from Benirras. Once you come back up the twisty road from the beach and meet he main road, instead of taking a right to San Miguel continue straight on over the road and continue on that road for a bit. You'll eventually come to Can Curune at the corner of a crossroad. Great local vibe (ibicenco families playing cards and two guys debating the merits of Barca/Madrid across the bar when i was there) and reasonable.

actually the sunset is even better if you drive on the road to that "hostal" and take the last left turn b4 (= dead end street).
from there you are much higher than la torre (you see their terrace beneath from that point)
and you can enjoy the sunset with your own drinks/music

Good shout, I ended up there on my scooter last year. Sat on the wall and took it all in :)

one of the best sunsets I ever experienced in ibiza is the one from top of cap nuno - the tip that looks a bit like a ski-jumping hill north of san antonio. you drive past cala salada, along the dirt track and then it's a 20mins hike up to the top. the views from up there are fantastic. bring a torch though for the way back after sunset ;)

I´m in Formentera now but there are no sun today so no sunset.
Hopefully l´ll get my girlfriend to go to Cocoon at Tipic Formentera tonight.

That place looks fab and also reminds me of Cafe Mambo in the early days (mid 90's). Will definitely have a look out for this place which is on cape Negret next year. Just hope it doesnt end up in the same way that Mambo has!

actually if that place gets more popular and when more than 15 people decide to go to latorre with their own car these small streets next to it are already more or less full.
then you have to park further away near hotel tanit respectively where you park when going to the aquarium.
mango ? omg. pure trash these days

Actually raging i just learned of it last year. Nothing to do with Mambo either, was a re-read of The White Island which i must have first read years ago. Arghhh. Anyone know of any other super balearic soon to be ruined but not yet ruined spots? Pm please.

... How good does it look here pre-mambo?

actually one evening i parked exactly where the lovely mehari parked in that vid ;)

some changes done to that place already since this vid was made.
new wooden platform added in front plus fugly uncomfortable building centre chairs scattered on the rocks ...
