Fifa rankings as of Oct 2005

1 Brazil
2 Netherlands
3 Czech Republic
4 Argentina
5 France
6 Mexico
7 USA
8 Spain
9 England
9 Portugal

:P

I'm sure the new rankings will reflect the crushing of the Argies and the lackluster affair that was USA Vs Scotland ;)

True :? I was hoping, when I went on the Fifa site, that they were already updated but alas those are last months rankings.

England done good against Crespo & Co. 8)

Keep dreaming people. We all know which team is gonna be the champion. But you should all be very excited betting and guessing which one is going to be the runner up against Brazil.

I was a great fan of the German football team, from the first time I saw them in Mexico till I stopped following football in 1994 when I moved to good 'ol USA. Even though there is something to be said about home court advantage, all news reports suggest that the krauts are no where to be seen near the top 4-5 teams.

The US got screwed against the Germans in the 2002 cup quarterfinals. We should have had a goal, and if not, a penalty.

As a Scotsman it pains me to say that England are in with a really good shout this World Cup. Always think the world rankings are a bit dodgy. Germany have a much better chance than people give them credit for. Where were France in the world rankings when they won the world cup.

Ideal final would be Brazil v England with Italy and Holland 3rd & 4th place.

But I must conclude, it is hard to look past -:

Carlos
Rohnaldino
Ronaldo
Kaka
Robbino

etc
etc

Althogh a fit and in form Rooney coupled with a firing on all cylinders Lampard is a formidable force too.

Dammit I wish Scotland were better. Also have to say the U.S. only had 3 of there key players in the team we drew against. They are a good side!

Oh ya... forgot to mention that earlier. The side that drew against Scotland was basically our reserves 8)

England will do their same old trick. Get through the group stages, possibly reach the semis and get beat. Time to face it, we're just not good enough.

On penalties!

Ever since seeing my first World Cup in 86 (with my family who moved down South) I have liked watching England and have been able to get excited about them in major tournaments. "Gave me someone to cheer for after the group stages!" This is much to the disgust of my mates who absolutely hate England (a lot to do with the media).

Since moving to London and getting the pee taken out of Scotland I now see myself cheering if England get beat!! Deep down though, I still want them to do well!

This is the best group of players England has had in a long long time!!

Believe!

You need more africans on your teams....they're faster and stronger and they can kick the ball harder and further.

Self praise is no praise Rick, but I like that you've finally embraced your roots.
