If any good comes of this then ocean beach will have to turn its music down or off as well and might as well close.
Jockey Club was great 10yrs ago, not been since and not sure if still have DJ'sDo the other bars on Salinas suffer with the same problem? I’ve never looked inside to see if they have DJ’s. Pretty sure they have music though,
It's been really quiet whenever I've walked past the last few years. Maybe they've been following the rules!Jockey Club was great 10yrs ago, not been since and not sure if still have DJ's
It's not because sa trinxa is in a natural park, the experimental is also in the natural park, they play music above 65db and they were reported, as simple as thatI am pretty sure you can‘t legally ban having music in some bars and in others allow it, just because of vicinity to a beach. That would be discrimination. As Sa Trinxa is within a natural park that is different, government can ban it. They can also limit (and have) the volume, which can make it pointless paying a DJ for the bar, as music is just background atmo. So pretty sure DJ performances are not ‚banned‘, it was just the reaction of Sa Trinxa because of government coming down on them for noise pollution.
My heart is breaking…
I read online the order is starting next week, so these are the last days of DJ sets.
What gives me hope is that I am reading a lot of actual island residents protesting against this order too, not tourists. Sa Trinxa is popular among locals as well and not exactly known for excess tourism and noise pollution. I can see no winner of this ban so far.
Both places - Sa Trinxa and Khumaras, tucked away, low key. Hitting these places with fines, trying to hurt their business just feels wrong and out of order. Most residents (including me & friends) are protesting.
I would of course understand if it was extremely noisy, aggressive or unsettling yet it is the polar opposite to most places playing music on the island.
When I read the comments on Periódico, I'm not sure most residents agree with the protesters Tbh...Most residents (including me & friends) are protesting.

Not in a natural park. What about Mambo?
When ever I’ve been there over the past few years it’s been pretty tame unless you were inside the venue itself.Anyone who watched the documentary a few years back will remember Jon complaining about the sound limiters there. I guess it was on borrowed time? the more pressing question now is whether the general character of the beach will change. I always liked it because of the colourful blend of poseurs, hustlers, ageing bohos, and people from all over the world (everything basically that O Beach is not) and I hope that isn't lost. Hopef it will retain that charm even without the party vibe.
