Russia v England

This thread was great then went off the rails. Sorry England fans it looks like no euro next summer. I cheer for England during euro tourney. IMO England does not have a good goalie and the manager is crap with a formation that was way too defensive. I don't see why a country with the best football league should struggle with euro cup qualifying:twisted:. I say get a new manager and find a goalie in the local leagues and train him up.

how long before Javi Garrido gets a call up?

We don't have the best league IMO. We have the best top 4 (Arguably), but outside of that it falls away to a pile of ****e. Spain on the other hand has a constantly changing set of top teams with 2 constants in Barca and Real.

As for not qualifying, I'll quite happily miss the Euro if it rids us of McClarren... Sadly it will never happen though.

PRESS CLUB mate ;)

twas a sad day when I left the M.u.E.N and had ro relinquish my membership

I've been trying to get onto the press club. Circle now awfull, its a pastiche of a the mayfair gaffs that Prince W hangs out at - except full of Manchester solicitors..uggg.

Press club seems to keep it real, what goes on in stays in etc etc - but i think its pretty un blaggable unless your actually in the press & I aint!

very true, was hard enough getting in there when you WERE a member!!
Circle was ok in the beginning, was the press club without the sticky carpet, then soon became a kind of after hours "living room" (probably manchesters most overrated bar)

Is Mick Rumbaba ever spotted in these places? They're nothing if not!

looking at its clientele of hacks, media types, arty folk and various ne'er do wells from salford, whalley range, longsight et al I would definately say Mick was a press club regular!!

Yes, circle did used to be ok.

It was for 'creative' people. Which was pretentious, but at least it had a reason for existing. Why, I even had my picture on the wall at one point!

But it financially died on its bum. Got bought by Dave Mallon of ringspun clothing (a huge, dreadlocked, kickboxing manchester 'scenester') & it is now open to 'professional services' people. Basically anyone can join. Last time we went there was a lamourgini outside the front door & a rolls royce with a driver round the corner. Never again we swore.

Then we all got thrown out on my birthday for being naughty in the back room & my relationship with the club went downhill from there!

ooooooh, another one of those 'in-jokes'.........!:lol: i know i've asked before but who is the infamous mick!!

Mick the rum barber. Had a barber's shop on Tibb St where you could get you hair done and hear endless tales of Mick's drug-fuelled romps with supermodels in Manc club toilets.

He was either a complete fantasist or the most connected man in Manchester in the early 90s.
