Rip

It shamelessly ripped off CeCe Rogers but I’ll always have fond memories of Liquid. Spotlighters of a certain vintage may remember the ‘running man’ dance. I tried it out myself at the Hammersmith Palais & elsewhere - mightily relieved there were no disco videos in those days…

Can't pretend to have been a massive fan but he was obv iconic in rock history, and a thousand times more interesting than any live performer today. The first gig we went to in 2020 after lockdown featured Spanish Sabbath tribute act '77. It was slightly surreal seeing all these hairy rockers sat down on equidistantly spaced out chairs in the courtyard getting beer served by waiters. A lot of the metal wasn't for me, but the covers of slower numbers like Planet Caravan were note perfect and sounded beautifully haunting.

Hola, you!

Just to point out that '77 were NOT a Black Sabbath tribute band, although on their last release Bright Gloom (2018) they moved from the AC/DC-inspired r'n'r boogie to a more doomy sound.

For the concert you went to at the Castell de Montjuïc they played Paranoid in its entirety but they were not a covers band, they published half a dozen of albums with original material.

They were part of the HRH Ibiza Road Trip in 2012 and I met the Valeta brothers. One of them, Gerard, plays guitar with Sweden's biggest rock band The Hellacopters nowadays.

Btw, that castle is a great place for live music. I went there a couple of nights, also during the pandemic...

ok ok joder, no sabía

Yes, the Castell de Montjuïc is great. Somewhere else to add to your list when you're over @Ibizajames1980 - great views of the harbour and a short walk from the Caseta del Migdia in the woods which does free live music and (not free) food/drink throughout the summer

I'm far from a Metal fan but appreciate that he and his band are respected as creating (or at least popularising) a genre.

Also while it was more Sharon's doing he and the family created the celebrity reality fly on the wall documentary genre.

All in all a true big character, always full of opinions and entertaining.
