John Lewis tackles masculinity crisis in its 2025 Christmas Advert
This festive season, the retailer has made an advert about a father and son rekindling their bond. It’s far too serious for a John Lewis advert, but it might be a welcome break from traditionwww.independent.co.uk
I think this captures it for me.
To expand a little, all that joy we had, the rave, the excitement of it all and then the kids, or whatever became your thing...why wouldn't they be intrinsically related?
Why should the joy not be rekindled? The link between then and now should be celebrated, always.
crikey, i thought it was just an advert for a record shop.
You are not driven to buy from them now but next time you are buying a gift, let say a hamper or electricals - they will in your mind as an optionYou old cynic El Ste.
And of course, I'm not blind to the advertising pulling on the heart strings to extract cash from the wallet.
Still, if house music and all that went with it, changed your life immeasurably, and having kids did too, the ad is a enjoyable watch, warming perhaps.
Interested in any advertising gurus who might comment on the fact that I don't feel anymore compelled to buy gifts from the shop in question?
