Question about the West End....

The superior attitude of some people on these pages is starting to get really dull! Just because lots of people dont go to ibiza to go to all the big clubs every night of their holiday doesnt mean they have any less right to be there or have their opinions heard.

I have been to Ibiza and tried the West End, safe to say it is def not for me. I do see what you mean, the majority of people on this board do not like the west end AT ALL and aren't afraid to say so. Each to their own in my opinion, and sometimes people on here do sound opinionated but I don't think they actually mean that people who go there shouldn't be in Ibiza, if it wasn't for the west end Ibiza would not be as established as it is today!! Definitely keep an open mind and try it when you are there, it won't take you long to make your own mind up! :P

Have to say "well said" to you foxy.

I agree that everyone is entitled to an opinion and, more importantly, the right to express that opinion. What does get on my nerves is people posting derogatory comments about the west end , then openly admitting that they have never been there!!!
I have had a bar in the west end for 7 years now. I don´t do pub crawls, all-inclusive, 2 for 1 offers or anything like that yet my bar is busy all night, every night. I have met some of the nicest people in my life in the west end. Yes, there are drunk people about, but what do you expect in a small area with 100 or so bars?! Have you ever taken a look at your own town/city centre on a saturday night? I´ve had 2 fights in my bar in the last 3 years. Again, compare that to your local!
The west end has an unrivalled selection of bars where there really is something to suit everyone. On my street alone there is an Irish Bar, 4 Spanish bars, a Danish bar, an American themed karaoke bar, a small English pub, a Dutch bar, a Cuban bar (try the mojitos!!), a Scottish pub and a cocktail bar. There are bars playing every kind of music from r´n´b to hard house and from 60´s to the latest club tunes. Most of the bar owners and staff are extremely friendly and are a useful source of information. This year most bars are adhering to the law limiting the number of p.r.´s (1 for most bars) so you won´t be getting accosted as you arrive!
The west end does not smell either, as some people have suggested. Have you ever been to Las Americas, Tenerife? That smells.

If you don´t like the west end..... good
If you do like it..... great
If you´ve never been there..... keep quiet!

There are too many people who witter on about the spirit of Ibiza and the happiness and tolerance on the island, only to turn their noses up at a huge proportion of the people who come here because they dare to enjoy themselves on holiday. Ibiza was a popular holiday spot long before the u.k. club nights arrived here..... don´t forget that.

Everyone knows there are problems with the West End which is why new controls and regulations are being put into place and thousands of pounds are being spent on CCTV.

You dont need to go to the West End/UK club nights to enjoy Ibiza...

The people who dont like it dont like it for valid reasons.

One thing I think we can all agree on is that Ibiza Uncovered and Club Reps didn't exactly do a lot for the image of Ibiza, and particularly the West End.

Everyone has there own oinion about the West End because we all like different things, we cant all be the same!
I went to Ibiza for the first time in September 2000 with 4 girls for a hen party and we stayed in San Antonio Bay, we used to have a meal in the Bay go back to our room for some duty free booze and then into the West End at about 11 ish mainly because we didn't have loads of money to spend on drink in the clubs so it was a good way to get free/discounted drinks, it was OK not too busy although it may be different in July and August. Music was OK, very commercial but back then thats what we were into, we got hassled a bit by ticket touts and lucky lucky men and it was a bit dirty. Since 2000 I have been back 3 times and stayed near Ibiza Town mainly drinking in Ibiza Town or at Bora Bora and going to the sunset strip I am older now and into Hed Kandi etc so its more my scene! Last year I took my husband into the West End so he could see it for himself he said it reminded him of Blackpool, as I say it depends what your into but I have to say that Ibiza has alot to offer and there is a West End in evey holiday resort and my home town and my local nightclub resembles it on a Saturday night! So if you are based there on your hol you should try other parts if the island so you can form your own opinion, one thing I will say is that Ibiza Town (Base Bar, Kube, Dome) and places like Pacha, El Divino are alot more expensive ie £8 - £10 for a drink so it also depends on budget. Also nobody should ever leave the Island without visiting Formentera first!!!!!

i ended up in the west end a few times last year for one reason or another. everytime a couple of huge fights broke out with the whole of that main street seeming to get involved (obviously not everyone fighting, loads of bouncers running about, ppl trying to avoid it etc).

one night we went to have a look in play2 and payed 7e per drink, seemed really over priced for what it was. 8O

it is certainly an experience, but personally not for me, i dont really like being around the type of person that does seem to frequent the area and i find it embarresing, ppl kicking litter bins over, leaving glasses in the middle of the road etc.

My West End

This year will be my sixth time on the island and I must say that I have never seen any of the bad stuff that is shown on Ibiza Uncovered.

You must firstly rememeber that if some people see a video camera in their face, they will play to it - simple fact. Fights, drunken people falling over, people throwing up - never seen it once.

I have also been to Kavos in Corfu once, and it was nothing like they portrayed it on the Greece Uncovered series.

The best thing to do is try it - if you don't like it, don't go back - simple as that.

I personally will go there every night for a few drinks before a big club or maybe even stay there the whole night.

Like a precious poster said the staff are nice and the bars are nice. I go to Mr Toffs which is on the corner opposite the Scottish Pub and opposite the Cocktail Bar.

The west end can get a bit lairy
Ive been there and seen generally people just enjoying themeselves many younger clubbers but most are well behaved.
there are however a lot more typical drunken brits in that area as the drinks are cheap and so many bars offer free stuff.
You can find these people anywhere you go in the world although i do have to say i havn't seen much of these people in places like Ibiza town, Porto Banus, St Tropez or Dubai. Having said that the drinks cost more and you also come across some right stuck up people that you couldn't have an ounce of fun with.
Good and Bad Everywhere although i must admit i can't stand Lairy twats.

I've been to the West End. Wasn't that bad.

"The wrong kind of people...." It just seemed to me they were just having a real good time. sorry if it was too loud for ya! Yah, the music was cheezy, but it still had a beat.

West End -
If you havnt been go and see if you like it.
If you like it go again.
If you dont, dont go again.

i myself like it in small doses becuase it reminds me of a night out in england - but a longer night with more drunken people.

Its best to go and see what ibiza has got to offer and then decide what you prefer.

But dont spend your entire holiday in the west end .. go to space, pacha, ibiza town ect .. explore !!!!

Have fund all ... 9 DAYS !!!!!!!

Lot of Bitchin'

Hiya.Im going to ibiza for the 1st time.although one of my party has just come back from a 2 weeks holiday there and going again in a few weeks...I havnt spoke to him yet so i dnt know what he will say about the west end..but what ever his response is ill still b going thier and judging for my self.... i just hate the way people judge other people you get that enough here with "Moshers/townies,trendies..." etc etc or what ever people call diff people.. im just hoping no one will b stereotyping people when we are there...becuase your rather putting me off the idea!

there was a pretty good recident in villains last year as i recall!!!!!!
my mates werent really onto the big nights!!!! as much as me so we only went to a few!!!!!

i nearly got a bottle over my head in the west end!!!! some guy aiming for somebody else!!!!! i havent seen much trouble- i wudnt fook with the police over there!!!!!!!

and again

now theres even an australian themed pub: hogan's (previously known as villains
Was Villians an austrailian themed bar, or has it changed into a theme bar, cos i was there last year and it didnt scream 'austrailia!'

The guys in the appartment next to us thought we were mad cos we went to the west end a few times!

The new bar is called Hogans, which when it opens will be an Australian themed bar.

It is owned by the same people as Mambos and Savannahs.
