The superior attitude of some people on these pages is starting to get really dull! Just because lots of people dont go to ibiza to go to all the big clubs every night of their holiday doesnt mean they have any less right to be there or have their opinions heard.
Have to say "well said" to you foxy.
I agree that everyone is entitled to an opinion and, more importantly, the right to express that opinion. What does get on my nerves is people posting derogatory comments about the west end , then openly admitting that they have never been there!!!
I have had a bar in the west end for 7 years now. I don´t do pub crawls, all-inclusive, 2 for 1 offers or anything like that yet my bar is busy all night, every night. I have met some of the nicest people in my life in the west end. Yes, there are drunk people about, but what do you expect in a small area with 100 or so bars?! Have you ever taken a look at your own town/city centre on a saturday night? I´ve had 2 fights in my bar in the last 3 years. Again, compare that to your local!
The west end has an unrivalled selection of bars where there really is something to suit everyone. On my street alone there is an Irish Bar, 4 Spanish bars, a Danish bar, an American themed karaoke bar, a small English pub, a Dutch bar, a Cuban bar (try the mojitos!!), a Scottish pub and a cocktail bar. There are bars playing every kind of music from r´n´b to hard house and from 60´s to the latest club tunes. Most of the bar owners and staff are extremely friendly and are a useful source of information. This year most bars are adhering to the law limiting the number of p.r.´s (1 for most bars) so you won´t be getting accosted as you arrive!
The west end does not smell either, as some people have suggested. Have you ever been to Las Americas, Tenerife? That smells.
If you don´t like the west end..... good
If you do like it..... great
If you´ve never been there..... keep quiet!
There are too many people who witter on about the spirit of Ibiza and the happiness and tolerance on the island, only to turn their noses up at a huge proportion of the people who come here because they dare to enjoy themselves on holiday. Ibiza was a popular holiday spot long before the u.k. club nights arrived here..... don´t forget that.
