Got an email today from Ryanair, saying no alcohol allowed on flights, if you buy alcohol at airport, as long as it goes in cabin bag size case,it can go in the hold free of charge, if you go to board with it in a carrier bag it will need to left in one of the bins at boarding, if you look like youve had a drink, or look like you could cause problems, you will be refused boarding, and ALL cases WILL be checked at boarding,!!
guess a few people have been a bit *merry* on flights to Ibiza,

I agree, I couldnt stomach alcohol at 6am in morn ,while waiting for a plane, thing is, they always say if youre drunk, you cant get on the plane, so presume people have drank loads on the plane,
When youve got kids with you, they dont need to hear people drunk at silly o clock,

Our Jet2 flight from Belfast to Ibiza was a bit chaotic last week. High spirits for 3 hours and Vodkas were sold out before the drinks caddy was halfway down the aisle. There were no kids on our flight and 'everybody' was drinking. A group of 9 lads directly in front and 7 girls directly behind and beside me were the loudest and most drunk. The guy in front had passed out and we were balancing empty bottles on his head before he woke up. When he did move I shouted "Buckaroo!" I admit I had one too many as well. :p We were all spilling our drinks and practically shouting as loud as we could into each other's ear as we could barely hear each other over the noise. Several times the pilot told us all to behave but I could barely make out a word he said. When we landed the plane went wild with applause and the guy who passed out was then awake and crying like a baby. His mates hugged him as the doors opened and we approached the sunlight. Always exciting and emotional when you first feel that beautiful hot climate as the doors open and you say to yourself "I'm in Ibiza!!!" :)

In contrast the return flight was very quiet and sombre, or should I say sober. ;)

Clever that, nice one.

Ryanair and EasyJet have had this policy for a long time. To be fair it was pretty grim on some flights over the past couple of years...

It's a shame but it's right that the carriers have this policy as not everyone gets on that flight to party. There are families and pensioners on those planes.

However, I think the airlines should also limit the amount of alcohol one can buy in flight if they are serious about curbing bad behaviour. The current system simply boosts drink sales from the trolleys

The pilot on our flight came out before take off and did a speech at the front of the plane basically warning people not to be dicks. It was a good natured speech but done in a no nonsense way. That's the second time we've had that pilot and both times the flight was hassle free.

We had the same email last year. Not sure how much they enforce it - 2 lads in front of us got on with bottles of duty free clinking away in a carrier bag no problem. For a 7am flight it was pretty quiet compared to others I've been on.

I flew with jet2 last month and they dont allow alcohol to be sold on the plane before 8am. Quietest plane I have been on for a while considering it was full of hen and staggys (didnt go Ibiza)

I fly with jet2 in a few weeks time. Just checked flights and it's 9.15am so I will be ordering a few doubles to top up on the beers that have already gone down with my airport brekkie. Not taking any chances though so will make sure I have a bottle of something from duty free as a plan b

Have had this before. Each to their own but a few pre match pints in the airport are almost a ritual and something that gets the holiday started. Will be in the lounge prior to coming out in a few weeks so will be having a few again. As long as you're not a loud mouth caaaant then you'll have no bother. It's the minority that ruin it for the majority every time.

Was on a Jet2 from Glasgow 3 years ago. Early Monday morning flight. I was having a bit of breakfast and the usual Pre-holiday flight couple of pints in the bar after check-in and there was a group being a bit loud, not out of order, just loud. But got louder. Police followed them all the way to the gate, but they did get to board after a discussion. Once on the plane, they got a couple of warnings from the stewardess and the pilot came out and had a word with them too. Most of them calmed down. Plane eventually moved away and got to the end of the runway. There was one guy still playing up, swore at the stewardess, got told if he swore again, he'd be off. Guess what. Yip, at the end of the runway, engines revving up, and back to the terminal. Police on, one guy off, rest of them really well behaved after that, with lots of apologies to the stewardess. Made us all a few hours late getting there.

Once we did take off, Jet2 happy to sell as much booze as possible, announcing special offers, telling people to get plenty for the flight as the trolley is only passing once, etc. I was taking it easy, 4 miniatures did me on that flight.

Same as everyone else has said about this, people having fun is great, and no doubt the start of a trip to Ibiza gets you excited, but if youre having a booze before you're flight, make sure you can handle it and can keep quiet when you need too. Doesn't really matter if families and pensioners or not, people should know how to behave themselves. Unfortunately not everyone can and when they think they are being funny, everyone just thinks they are being a dick.

I flew from Prestwick last year and the girl directly in front of me had clearly partaken in a few airport refreshments so I'm thinking she'll be up for a laugh and a bit of banter. Plane takes off, ten minutes in the air, everyone in good spirits except the girl in front has quietened right down and went a funny colour. Another ten minutes pass and she turns round to chat to her pals, looks at them as if about to say something and then out of nowhere this absolute volcano erupts from her gub and onto the carpet of the plane.

Cue three hours of smelling someone elses spew and wanting to chokeslam her through the plane door. :p

if you get rowdy in an airport or on a plane, knowing full well that there are other people who are tired/nervous flyers, or in some cases families/kids who may be scared, then you are a massive C**T and should go to jail.

I was on a monarch flight to Malaga a few years back with some very rough women from Luton in the seat behind who were so smashed one of them actually tried to open the emergency door. one of the stewards looked traumatised at the end, his mood not helped by them calling him Pedro (despite the prominent Miguel on his nameplate)

there should be a mandatory 10 years (minimum) for anyone who does that

Couldn't agree more with the above statement, flew Jet 2 for CW, Fight on the plane punches & bottles thrown all due to a couple and their pals having to much booze and starting a row with 4 lads twice the size of Rye boy (they didn't start it) it was chaos for a bit, screaming and shouting. The Captain told them to stop fighting or we would divert to Barcelona and they would pay for it. Shocking behavior, loads of children on board.

Thankfully 2 off duty coppers waded in and took the main instigator to the front and held him there for the flight - he was still trying to kick off and his g/f was calling everyone a racist. The whole flight was awful.

Guardia Civil took him off at Ibiza ( we had to bloody wait etc ) but I did see him being processed and then later trying to find his pals.

Jet2 staff handled it well, apparently they have a zero tolerance charter, the stewardess said he would be banned.
