Pikes 2017

So was there last night, not for nearly as long as I would have wanted but my friend had travelled over yesterday morning so she was knackered.

Arrived at 12:30 and it was already packed, did a walk through to show my friend around (and to check out the upgrades from last year) and it was certainly a struggle to get through Freddie's even at that point.

Music wise - light and funky. Perfect to ease in Mysha back to the island (her first visit in 5 years) and everyone was in a good mood! We danced in the back half of the room before it got super packed and then we chilled outside for a while before leaving.

Drinks - Picked up a couple of vodkas at the bar and split a mixer. The vodka with mixer was €13, and the vodka on its own was €7.50. Later on I picked up a beer and that was €8

So if you want to sit and chill, go early to knab a bed/chair/wall to perch on. When we left at 2:30 the queue was about 10-15 deep and car park was rammed! I'd love to have been there for a few more hours so if anyone else was and could follow on with the rest of the night that would be awesome!

did anyone go to Oaky? I saw a picture Nancy Noise put up but no indication of how the night went...

I was there, my first time at Pikes in 21 visits to the island (yes I know, what an idiot!) Incredible unforgettable night. I arrived about 1:30am to Oakie banging out Blondie Call me into the clash rock the Kasbah, which sound great in that setting, followed by soft Cell - Tainted Love before getting more housey and finish in on the tilt courtyard mix of Robert miles - children, what a momentas I loved his Cream resident era!!
Nicky Holloway followed and banged out a good house set that had everone bouncing then Alfredo came on and mixed it up with classsics. A real party atmospehere, no Dj taking it seriously too.

Good to chat to Oakie at the bar and explore the amazing place Pikes is! next year i'll stay there!

i echo what Cyberloon has quoted.

It was a great atmosphere, 500 people attended and Paul who I hold in high esteem was on form. I had the meal they offer as well and it was extremely good, one of the best I've had on the island.

Nancy ( who is looking very mumsey nowadays ) was in top form, I see her a lot but good to see her on the island.

They have made the dance floor a bit bigger and drinks were reasonable. It as so good iam going back for the closing in August, I real treat for the a music fan.

London duo Secretsundaze make their debut at the legendary Pikes Ibiza on Friday 11th August for a special one one-off with them taking over Freddie’s for an all night long set. Over the 5 hours expect to hear them romp through various shades of disco, house and techno that have defined the party’s sound. Come down early evening to hang by the pool as Secretsundaze have invited their good friends Isabelle (Balamii Radio) and RICCIO (Fly By Night Music / Bosconi Records / Messalina Records) to soundtrack the early evening outside.

Think id rather be in a room with fred and rose west than Oakie and fckn Nit Holloway:eek: a prize one that one during the 90s at Liberty and Rock bar...

I would probably have punched a wall if i'd heard rock the casbah or tainted love. they're not bad tracks but I've heard them a zillion times. i've heard more cutting edge at weddings I've been to. i want to be transported to hyperspace hearing new magical sounds in an altered state not reminded of some office party in deptford.

i would agree with you if i'd actually gone to the night and then complained without reading the brief, but I was explaining why the night didn't interest me

I guess I've reached that point where I'm done with classics. (unless in extreme moderation)

*the exception is possibly sa trinxa because the atmosphere there is unique

generally speaking, i rate Nancy way above oakey and alfredo. wherever i've heard her play, she's played warm house/balearic with a nod to the roots but never too stuck in 89. i think she and trevor fung are the only ones of the original ibiza lot that still have it tbh. (lets not mention rampling, lisa loud..) + alfredo was atrocious when I saw him at some uk festies.

A Balearic dj originally was a person who has a good ear from music but couldn'tt mix for $hit....:)

And it started in the domino bar and other bars like that where people brought records as gifts to the bar owners from their travels.. leaving any eclectic mix to be played.. long before oaky and his mullet arrived..
