PHOTOS - winter 2011/2012

Urgh!

I'm green with envy.

Sitting here looking out onto a damp, mizzly, grey day in Scotland.

Would kill for the prospect of a sunny jaunt to the beach today.

Enjoy! :)

^^ very quiet this year by the looks of it .. tho' one of the pics looked busier (maybe later on ?).

When the weather's like that it looks gorgeous. If there had been direct flights from Gatwick or Birmingham I'd have been out for 3 days last week for sure. As it worked out would have spent most of the daytime hours travelling so wound up in Tenegrief instead chasing breaks in the cloud along the coast . Nice tapas in Adeje village tho' 8).

stephen, could you give a brief description of how you got the 1st shot in your Salinas area set please.
It's puzzling a point and click person...

the flamingos? they were so far away i only spotted them with my binoculars and then had to use 10x optical zoom on my camera which pulls everything in ie the castle in the distance, and then brought everything in a bit further by cropping the edges off the shot. i learnt that you certainly need a tripod and a huge zoom lens when bird spotting in the salt pans as they all bugger off if you get closer than 3 miles.

histree buffs will be fascinated to learn that the monkey puzzle tree in the centre was planted as a seed on the day the second republic was declared - april 14 1931 - and at almost 81 years of age is looking a bit worse for wear over the last couple of years.
