Pacha's 2016 line-up

If it is Aoki then I wonder what they could replace it with. It would have to be something EDM related as all the so called underground acts are at DC-10 and Cocoon and a third underground act would be too much for Mondays.

Aoki was Wednesday during it's first year run. Only switched to Mondays this summer. Although the other nights may remain, no guarantee they won't switch nights. Solvieg could conceivably work on a Monday for e.g.

If Aoki is for the chop, i guess Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike are strong contenders for an EDM residency following their prestigious DJ Mag Top 100 win (!)

I checked the party calendar. You were right. I do recall vaguely reading something about it before, but dismissed it. Who are these guys? Where have they come from? (apart from Vegas, obviously)

Haven't caught one of their nights, like you I dismissed them in favour of someone else! From memory I'm pretty sure they were at Amnesia in 2014 too, not sure which night though! Would be good to hear views from anyone who's been... @JakeG2015 didnt you go to this??

I think their rise to fame will be intertwined with Tomorrowland Festival and its popularity. Tomorrowland when first starting 10 years ago in Belgium, wanted Belgium DJs to show off to the world as such, and as that festival has grown and grown, they've grown with it. We all know the DJ Mag Top 100 is more a popularity contest than whos got the better DJing capability - and this will have much to do with it. Just check out the video below to see their performance at this years festival...

Yeah they were on the Amnesia terrace on Sundays in 2014 with Markus Schulz on in the Main Room. I went as Fatboy Slim was supporting on the terrace, a few of my friends wanted to go and I parlayed me going to it with all of us going to Circoloco the next night.

It was a bit of a surprise hit for Amnesia in 2014 I reckon as the party was called "Amnesia Presents" and was only 25 euros. The Main Room was fairly empty when I was there in early August with everyone in the terrace. Think they upped it to 45 euros this year so must have caught on, I guess they can name their price and venue now for their party.

As for the party itself, mostly a load of EDM-nonsense - big riffs and drops one after the other interspersed with members of their entourage coming out and pouring grey goose down the throats of clubbers who swarmed to them like goldfish, mouth open, hoping for it to be filled. I found that all very distasteful but the vast majority were having a ball. Dimitri Vegas has got a very irritating stage presence, never shuts up and has a bizarre accent somewhere between Brooklyn and Belgium. Like Mike seems more quiet and just gets on with pressing play on the next track.

As for the DJ Mag poll, sad what that's become, maybe spotlight should start our own one alongside the favourite club in Ibiza one that's ongoing.

source?

as an underground aficionado I've never been a huge fan of guettas music but you have to give it to him what a huge role he's played for electronic music and also pop music, almost singlehandedly making electronic music (though in its EDM form) popular in the US and therefore also introducing people to electronic music who later get interested in the underground scene.
PLUS - he is such a nice guy when you meet him, one of the friendliest and down to earth guys in the whole business. can't say the same about some pretentious stars in the underground scene..
He played last friday in Belgium for a belgian' s friend promotor Who has been bringing him for the last 10 years for a one off show but has been friend for more than 20 years as he was already working with him back in the days when Guetta had a recidency in la Rocca @ Antwerpen .

But as Stivi said before , even if he is sad about the change, which i don t get it as he is responsable for that. Not really sure he Will stop his recidency . Anyway i don't think many people on this forum care about Guetta. Won t change my Life if he leave, would prefer him to go to be honest, but that won't happen
