Pacha - Over-hyped rip-off?

Pacha's PR team have done a great job in promoting the Pacha brand to have this super cool image, but is anyone familiar with the story of the Emperor's New Clothes...?

If people keep being told something is cool then eventually they believe the hype, even when there is actually nothing there of value. Many times we have been told Pacha is "the best club in the world"

So we went to Pacha for the first time last Thursday with tickets worth 60 euros each, expecting to be wowed by a stylish super club.

Instead we were squashed within an inch of our lives in an unremarkable room that was grossly over capacity, rudely ordered around like cattle by doormen and served ridiculously priced drinks by surly staff. For 60 euros I would, at the very least, expect nice loos! As for the music, I have heard better in my local high street club at home...

Why is Pacha so over-hyped when it is just like any other club?! :?

Your question, for the life of me, i can't answer, even after going to Ibiza for years. I think Pacha is absolute **** but even among the friends I go with, i have numerous friends who think it is awesome. I don't find the club to be good looking. i dont find the staff to be good people, i dont find the atmosphere to be enjoyable, i just dont get it. I would rather go to just about any other club on the island.

That being said. To each their own, i discovered that Pacha didn't mesh with me, so if people want to go to pacha, I go somewhere else.

my friends who like pacha for example, even disregarding the music, HATE amnesia, which i think is great fun.

ces't la vie.

totally overated as a club, the layout of the main room is horrible, for example steps by the dj booth onto the dancefloor as you enter where most of the time there's loads of pushing and shoving.

i like the roof terrace, thats about it. had good times there though. saw garnier there in june 2006 which was class. went back in september the same year for pure pacha closing and it was pish, although i did have a good time blethering away on the roof most of the night.

you can't go along to FMIF and seriously expect good music. its probably at the top of my list of nights i'd never even contemplate going along to.

I agree about the main dance floor, it gets far to busy especially around the stairs.

But what I do love is the Funky room upstairs!!!! I'm usually in there all night feeling great, and then walk out through the main room and its all dark and moody... and I think thank god I spent all night in the funky room!!

We have vowed not to bother going to Pacha this year. Only went the last couple because Ousnlade and Ame were on last year (Osunlade was one of the best sets I have heard for many years) and MAW the year before. Drinks are far too expensive, staff are rude, dancers are ****, dancefloor is too small, far too big a VIP area which is always full of miserable looking ****ers sipping champagne...I got aked not to stand near it once...idiots

...plus the supposed great 'funky room' always seems to have the most boring soulful 'colour by numbers' house playing

**** it

I've always liked Pacha as a venue, but i agree with all comments about the main room and the people (staff & punters).

Personally i like the fact you can wander round, from funky room, to global room, to roof terrace, occasionally dipping into the main room for a look. I've had my best times in Pacha, in the Global/Funky rooms.

It is a rip off and full of people who are there 'cos its pacha', rather than for the music, which probably explains why i've not been in 2-3 years...

i dont really like the place and it is a total rip off, i wil go there but only if i have to

I've had many good night, a few not so good... You just need to ignore the t0sser and just get down to it!

Best place to stand in the club is by the stairs that you walk in! Loads of room (normally) - Worst I've seen it has to be 2004 Morillo b2b with Lawler! NASTY! - apparenlty that's meant to of been one of the busiest nights in the club EVER?!

I've been going to that club for 10 years and I've never seen anything like that in my life before, the whole club was a sardine tin! you could'nt find anywhere to dance! We had to leave at peak time as it was unbealrable!!

Leave Pacha alone!

I jus don't understand this thread - here's my POV:
1 - Why rip off? Tix are like 50-60 euros, same as every other big night on the island
2 - Drinks are the same price there as space, Priv, El Divino, in fact cheaper than Amnesia where water is 10e, only 7e in Pacha!
3 - The sound system on the main dancefloor is amazing, very loud and very very clear
4 - It is horribly horribly packed. But I've experienced that in all the other clubs too especially cream or Space when anyone half decent played
5 - The layout and decor are on another level compared with the best of the british club scene i.e. Fabric, Turnmills, The Cross & Bagleys (RIP)

Let's get some perspective here guys! It might be a little posy but it's still an incredible clubb (in my opinion)

Interesting to hear other people's opinions - glad to see I'm not the only one then!

Yes it was David Guetta's night and we did expect it to be busy - but not to be crushed to the wall, barely able to breathe never mind dance.

I think a lot of people definitely go 'just cos it's pacha' as someone mentioned. It's the one we chose to go to after all, after hearing all about what an amazing club it's supposed to be!

I wouldn't mind paying 50-60 euros if I got in return an amazing experience, good service from staff and great music. Unfortunately, we got none of these!

Really don't understand how all this hype is spread about something so mediocre.

So is Ibiza quiet or busy this year lol make ya mind up people.

Which club in Ibiza do you get good service from staff? Although it pains me to say this, out name abroad isn't particularly well respected or liked, thanks to the beer & football boys. Hence wherever we go, we are treated with a degree of contempt. Me and my GF have noticed this in Ibiza particularly, the bar staff at every club act like they are something special because of their position - maybe for a seasonal worker, to be a barman at Space is a good job but it doesn't defend the snobbish arrogance I have been treated with again and again in every club. The fact that you're shelling out big time doesn't make a difference, in fact I think it makes it worse as your expectations are higher & I think they play a secret game of smashing your expectations of decent service. I now amuse myself by being facitiously polite to these people saying things like "Have you got a minut? Thanks so much for serving me" etc. This is definitely not restricted to Pacha!

i remember a few yrs ago at subliminal, some bar woman was well rude to me so i blew out all the candles at the bar lol, bit childish i know but was very funny at the time.

It's a cultural thing guys, that's all... The Spanish have a 'go fu(k yourself' attitude where as we are normally a lot friendlier!

Before I worked in Ibiza, I got really annoyed with their attitudes, but after working there I could see this is how the people are here and to just ignore them! hey, just cause some cnut serving me a drink doesn't give me a smile doesn't ruin the night for me!

People complaing that the staff are rude, well the staff have been rude ever since I started coming to the Island in 1998! Nothing's changed!

Like someone said, if it winds you up, be REALLY nice to them, it winds them up a treat and makes you have a little giggle to yourself after winning that moral battle too! lol

I noticed the same thing in the clubs in Barcelona! They were even serving the locals first. And the drinks were very expensive in the clubs, but in bars they were cheap (by UK standards anyway)

Thye should learn some f**king manners...there's no excuse for it. B*ll**ks to it be a cultural thing. I used to work with a Spanish girl who was extremely polite
