No place on earth can replace Ibiza, but where have you been that allows you to feel even a drop of an Ibiza-like vibe? Where do you or would you go when Ibiza is calm (Oct - Jun)?
Actually I heard Ibiza is joyful Oct-Jun but not the same pace.

My list:
1) Trancoso, Brazil
2) Buzios, Brazil
3) Punta del Este, Uruguay

Mmmm! Would love to go there!
I have to say I'd miss the Eurotrashy element though.
They're mad as hatters down there but I can't imagine seeing any 12ft drag queens and sex dwarves. :P

I'm in Marrakesh Nov / Dec and Goa next March.

Not the same vibe as Ibiza of course but funky exciting places IMO.

Mykonos does look good too!
I also fancy argentina

I DO NOT like Mykonos. Spent some time there last July after 20 year absence. I find little of redeeming quality.

Saint Tropez is worse in my book. Been there - will not go back. Too pretentious, too flashy, too gaudy.

Was in Marrakesh in April. It's OK, food is great but you don't necessarily get the best vibes from the locals. Alot of getting harrassed on the streets. They are trying to build up Marrakesh as a new hot-spot destination with the opening of Pacha and other club/lounge/bars. Don't think it is going to work. But what a beautiful country!

Ahhh Goa! Haven't been there in almost 15 years. I would really like to go back. I'm sure it's changed but it's so beautiful.

Solask, where are you headed in Brazil? Do you know what cities/places you are going to visit?

whats mykonos like? looked lovely at the end of bourne identity. kinda promised a pal id go there with her in 2007 depending on whether she has a bloke and i have a bird. is it lively or peaceful?

punta del este looks immense, however, well out my price list. anyone been to argentina?

I've been to Argentina eight times and am returning in November. So I guess you can conclude that I like it... ALOT! But if you go there, you may never get to Mykonos because the women are outrageously beautiful and you may come back with one.
Punta is not all that expensive these days since the local currency is pretty weak. Upmarket hotels remain expensive but there are a number of smaller, acceptable accommodations on offer. The beaches are beautiful and the women....... A bit further up the coast is José Ignacio, a small town on the sea with the Cream Lounge. This place has Ibiza written all over it! Chill and watch the sunset to great music on white, puffy mattresses and billowy white curtains. Very cool.
Mykonos is not particularly beautiful (not green like Ibiza) - quite arid. And it is becoming quite developed. Much smaller than Ibiza.

Where do you recommend in Argentina ?

Thanks

For club life, there is only really Buenos Aires to go to. Has some of the best nightlife anywhere and great clubs. Quite the electronic music scene. A bottle of water costs around €1 in most all clubs - including Pacha BA (my favourite club in the world). Entrance is not expensive nor are drinks. You can have a fantastic meal for two, the best meat (sorry Vegans) you will ever eat and a good bottle of Argentine wine for about €10.

Away from BA, things become a bit calm (30% of Argentinians live in BA), but the scenery is amazingly diverse from the tropical forests of Iguazu and Misiones or the desert region around Salta and Jujuy in the North to the beauty of Patagonia, snow capped mountains and huge glaciers in the South.

If you go during their summer (Dec-Mar), you need to hop over to Uruguay (Punta del Este or Montevideo). Only a 30 minute plane ride from BA. Super nice, the Uruguayans. Used to be called the Swiss of Latin America.

For the Brits, most Argentinians have forgotten about the Malvinas (Falklands) War, so no overt anti-Brit sentiment. But do not refer to them as the Falklands - that will get them started!

I was actually invited out by a hot woman to go clubbing.

Although, I think I'd get my own room just in case things weren't as they seemed!

Priced up Punta Del Este, just too much for flights etc. for the time there. Maybe one day though.

And you don't want them started cos the only ones that talk more than a spanish is an argentinian 8O

Argentina is one of my dreamed trips :D

I just got back from travelling round the world earlier this year

And argentina was my favorite place. Buenos Aires is officially my favourite place in the world. I want to actally leave London and live there. The clubbing is amazing... 8)

Tycoon I agree with you Pacha BA is the best, and also a club called Mint. Basically the clubbing in BA is very much like Ibiza, same sort of vibe, tunes, sun, beutiful women. Add to that great food and wine, culture and about one tenth of the price!!

I can't wait to plan my next trip there. :D

I also reccommend Bogota in Colombia!! They love to party there too.

:) :) :)

What is so surprising Drew? I have a friend who lives there and most of my friends were there for his wedding and had the time of their lifes.
It's supposed to be a very beautiful country. Being poor or having lots of drug problems doesn't mean they don't know how to party ;)

I always thought Bogota was one of the most dangerous cities on the planet?

Maybe not so much these days, but i think i'll stick with the Med (or Lake District  ) for now thanks.

Bogota may not been safe as NY but there's places much more dangerous in latin america like Caracas for example. Don't even try to walk alone in the streets cos you will be killed/kidnaped/both.

Anyway, I don't like being stopped by fear ;)

From the places I visited in S.America I found Colombia one of the friendliest.

Colombians are aware of the bad rep their country has and as a result they got out of there way to make sure you have an amzing time in their country. You're gonna find bad people everywhere you go.

I persoanlly loved Bogota and loved the north 'caribean' coast even more so. Beautiful beaches and great parties. The people of S. America have so much life and positivity that it rubs off on people.

With regards to the med I'm sure more people get mugged etc in the tourist resorts of the med than they do in the lovely cities of Latin America.

Look ta the recent post of the poor guy who got mugged on his first night on the island. That probably wouldn't happen in Bogota. Mainly becuase the criminals are attracted to places where they know toursits are. Which is whay there is so much crime on the med.

Besides Colombia may be famous for coke but where do you think it ends up... yes Ibiza and other european holiday destinations... more likely for crime at the lucrative drug trade there rather than the mountains or streets of colombia

Food for thought!!

I reccommend Colombioa to everyone!! :) :)

So true!

I've read today in the news that Spain is the first consumer of coke in the world  8O
