I've never watched it and therefore can't get angry about something i don't care about. It's insignificant to me and if there are a load of orange chavs stumbling about in one place that is easy to avoid then what's the problem? It reads like a revolting child having a tantrum over something that they can't control. If you're going to suggest IQ tests for people arriving in Ibiza at least try to correctly spell the name of the place you are pompously trying to defend btw

Footnote = I feel it's relevent to add that the vast majority of people from Essex feel this way.

But I agree with Dave DL that I should give the place a wide berth.

However, for my sins, I am a little intrigued... I don't think one visit is entirely out of the question, if it only proves my pre-conceptions it'll be little damage done (so long as I don't start feeling plush and hire a bed or buy some Moet and shower with it :lol:!!!)

Ibiza has been a get away from all that crap for as long as I can remember - but sadly when I heard of a "party" like this I realise that this is changing too. They may be honest and decent people at the back of it all - they dont come acrioss this way in general, they come across as total prats and she-prats - and they are entitled to their holiday. But dont go around making Gods out of them - at the end of the day they are talentless and have done nothing to deserve fame or fortune so treat them as you would treat anyone else. Wayne Lineker though it seems has one interest and one interest only and that is to tap into the celeb-obsessed masses in the UK to try and get them over and into his "club". That is the last thing the place needs. These people were goingo Megaluf and other such destinations all along - leave them there.
I couldnt care less about their interests or anything like that - what i fear is that Ibiza will become a summer location for shoots of inane crap like TOWIE. And all the clowns it will attracts.

Out of interest Dave_DL, do you live in the UK?
I'm not from the UK originally but lived in manchester for 4 years in the 90s and have lived and still live in London since 2000.I'm 36 years old so thats nearly half my life. A lot of what I said was a rant, borne out of frustration built up over ten years here watching talentless people being catapuled into our living rooms and the media by reality TV. And while all this has been going on, we are now bombarded with talent shows like X-Factor, Dancing on Ice etc. Completely inane crap that has taken over living rooms up and down the country. TOWIE epitomises everything that is wrong with "celeb" culture in this country in this day and age. Try as you might to ignore it, it seems to be there at every turn.
What I said about IQ tests was very much in gest and not meant to be taken seriously. I have no problem with anyone going to Ibiza, I know I came across differently when I posted first but I was off on a rant. There are people in this country now who dont even know how to find where they live on a map but they could tell you everying about the price of fake tan, what fake people like Jordan wore yesterday and the line up of Big Brother for the last 10 series. If that is the way they wnat to live their lives, thats their business, I dont care and I dont want to know. I think tis to the detriment of society personally - young people growing up seeing talentless reality TV stars and thinking "I dont need an education, I could be like one of them". Someone like Jordan who somehow has made a fortune - she cant even speak properly. It baffls me - how has she made her money and the answer is that there is a huge social underclass out there who buy into her. She has brought out something like 6 books - ghost written of course, no publishing company has ever published mono-syllabic books before - and she's made a packet on each one. She's had a string of different blokes, has children with 2 of them and has now moved on to another. One minute she wants to keep the kids out of the limelight, the next she has them lined up in a photo-shoot, what the hell is all that about? Am I wrong in being appalled at all of this? When i was growing up, I was always told that if you work hard, you'll get places. Now it seems you dont have to work at all if you can make it into reality TV. Even Simon Cowell and his glorified karaoke competitions like X-Factor, at least they can perform and have some talent. Much as I detest what it is doing to music. But TOWIE and these sort of peiople on our TV screens, they are completely talentless, yet have been propelled into the media by ITV.
I know I'm ranting again now so I'm going to stop. I suppose I do sound like a child throwing toys out of a pram. And its all just personal opinion at the end of the day. But I guarantee you that this party Saturday night or Sunday or whenever it is will make it into the tabloid media over here by Monday. If they wnat to go and party, let them, but dont go around treating these people as some sort of celebrities because they are not. And thats my whole point.

I had thought about going to this place to check it out as its near where we'll be staying but no way now. Seems so false and fake, beautiful people my arse.

To answer your first question yes i do live in the UK and i've lived here all my life. I've highlighted the bit in bold because despite claiming not to care, you don't half go on. As i've said before i really don't care what these people do, it's of no interest to me and has no effect on my life in general. I couldn't name one of these so called celebrities that you seem to have such a pathological hatred for and although your rant(s) contained some good points on the media if you ignore them and their way of life they will go away. Live and let live etc etc
 
Good on kstand for speaking what he believes in. Too many on here just try to play it cool and never really have their own opinion and just say everything is rosey so's not to be out on their own. Well done you :)
I don't watch towie but did watch geordie shore last week for the first time. Well..... :lol: If any of them were my friends i would be ashamed and not admit it lol. I could imagine these types frequenting this venue, at least I wouldn't have to watch them posing their pecs around san an of an afternoon :)
It is difficult to find the balance between free will and down right disgusting behaviour from fellow tourists of the beloved white isle. None of us are god and none of us get to choose so if they wanna come and do their thing we should leave them to it.....but I still feel it is detrimental to the islands vibe. It may take a a while but it could vanish with these magaluf types invading Ibiza. I guess we will see, and in the mean time take it easy on the guy he's having some balls to.speak his honest opinion without joining the masses just to be accepted 8) We can all agree to disagree sometimes....

Cheers Ollie. Reading back I did go on a bit of a rant I suppose and it came across a bit pompous - hard to get a message across sometimes when you cant make it face to face. Dave_DL is right - live and let live. Have no time at all for all these false people and this party going on at this place is a total turn off. Will be there in 10 days and will not be going to Ocean Beach Club but each to their own.
