Killer show last night. What fun!
Not much instrumental performance, as you'd expect given their hyper-synth sound - just two musicians each with a laptop and some drums and triggers. The vocalist Doug McCarthy was in great form, though, and was a ball of energy on stage. Funny thing is he talks just like he sings (kind of like yelling!).
My throat still hurts from yelling along with all the classics - Murderous, I Give to You, Control I'm Here, Fun to Be Had, Getting Closer, etc... it's basically a greatest hits tour in support of their new 2-CD best-of compilation incl. 2nd disc of remixes.
Turns out the group had a pretty decent following here as their biggest album, Ebbhead, came out in '93 just as this market was opening up. The crowd last nigth was a strange mix of clubbing types, gothic punk kids, casually-disguised professionals - average age was probably 30!
If you were into EBM at any point I recommend catching these guys. Next stop on their tour: Alicante, Spain.
