It's a couple of years since I went but from my hazy memory:

1. Didn't notice any difference to London prices

2. I've never heard of any shops having dress codes

3. I thought clubbing in America was rubbish but that's just imo. Americans just don't seem to get clubbing so there was no atmosphere and they can't dance

4. Err no I wouldn't buy fakes

I'm hoping to get some UGG Boots - you still got your eyes on the Twisted Ribbon ones??

Uggs weren't that much cheaper in America I found, the Twisted Ribbon ones have completely gone, they were in fact old stock and they aren't planning to make anymore

So instead I bought a fab pair of Raspberry pink ones from Uggsandkisses.com that aren't available in the UK yet ;)

Are you planning on lots of shopping in New York?? Tbh I didn't find New York that great for shopping, it depends what you like, I like to wear different things whereas I found a lot of American fashion very conservative and dull and a bit old-fashioned. The one good thing it is good for is jean shopping - For All Mankind, Earl, Paper Cloth etc are all way cheaper over there.

1.cool bars are similar priced to UK (v. generous with the measures too:D )

2. can't remember ever feeling like this was the case........even in all the boutiques.

3. clubbing can be a bit hit and miss.........the big well known clubs can be a let down like babs said and for what you pay its not really even worth the experience. when i go again, i'm gonna do my research and find a smaller club and a more intimate venue.

4.if you can't find a bargain in NYC, give up on shopping for life. too much value and choice to need to buy a fake. start at macy or bloomingdales and use them as a guide/benchmark as to what you might like

(BTW - NYC is awesome, felt the same way about there as I did about Ibiza after the first time I went)

I was hun - I haven't got too much money though so its maybe good that the stuffs a bit boring!! I'm just gonna stock up on Benefit makeup etc!!! And i'll definately look for some jeans! :)

When are you going to NY?

I absolutely loved it when we went and am very keen to go back. Can't say we found anything more expensive than London drinks/restaurant/bar wise. We didn't do any big clubs when we were out there but went to an underground house party in a derelict building which was pretty good fun although a bit scary at first 8O

As for shopping the thought of going on holiday somewhere and shopping fills me with dread. I do far too much of it in London :) I did notice that there were tours that peeps did that were about an hour ride out of town to a big mall for discounted stuff - not really my bag.

We did do a helicopter ride over New York and the Bronx which I can thoroughly recommend 8) although it did take me about two hours to stop feeling sick afterwards

For basics such as jeans, denim jackets, american branded make-up, perfume etc it's so much cheaper and you can do loads of stocking up but for stuff a bit different save your money for when you get home and a spending spree in this country ;)

even if you don't buy anything or like anything...........looking around the shops is still cool.

just get yourself on 5th ave somewhere around the flat iron and have a long walk towards the park.

where you stayin??

I remember thinking that the cocktails were pretty expensive but really well made and sooo much stronger than you'd get in bars over here.

Re shopping - I trudged the streets for hours and found myself thinking, "Take me to Topshop." I don't think you can beat our high street shops, but it depends what kind of stuff you're after.

I did a helicopter ride the first time I went, which was amazing. It's such a cool city - you'll have a great time. :D

I spent 9 days last march and every single day I was saying to Pep: I haven't seen anyone with a pair of trainers, trousers or jacquet I would kill for 8O

Really, as babs and holly say (hola holly!), clothes are cheaper than here but imo it's only worth for some basics. I did got loads of things at Quicksilver, and loads of t-shirts cos cotton is very cheap, but I was very disappointed with the un-styleeee of the new yorkers. Sex in the city girls doesn't exist ;)

oooh I can't wait to show them how it should be done!!!

Maybe us girls should buy a shop there and show them how its done!! :)

Im hitting NYC in April, anyone recommend some good website who offer good deals on flights, @ the moment, the cheapest ive found is BA @ what i think is a resnoble price of £379

anywhere better that?
