..someone in the same town he was in at the time has said that it was supposed to be compulsory but boys who very severly opposed to it found a way to get out of it

I was brought up as a Catholic* but find it reasonable to mock bigotry in any forms.

Isn't the Pope infallible for Catholics? And how much of the church's teaching can you disagree with before you aren't a Catholic? Surely if the infallible head of your church says homosexuality is immoral you believe that?

I'm genuinely interested - not trying to cause offence.

*For the record I am now a staunch unbeliever - there might be something up there, but it the explanations giving by organised religions are no more likely than anything I can make up myself.

people, people, people, how many of you actually attend church and/or follow religion? from reading some of the threads not a very high %age, I know its an open chat forum but this is a sensitive area for some to be so opinionated on a subject which probably comes well behind your valid opinions on ibiza and clubbing.

don't mean to preach (no pun intended!) but get a grip, how many of you is it really going to affect in your everyday life :? .

good luck to the bloke, 14 hours work a day is tough for anyone let alone a 78 year old!!![/i]
 
A forum is a place where people can talk and express their views/feelings/advice/help on a myriad of subjects, some are experts, some are not, If everybody was an expert on everything, It would be very boring on here. I have picked up some great tips on here!! As long as people dont get personal or threatening, I dont see the harm. And if people who go out at weekends shoving tonnes of chemicals down their throats, get upset at a bit of good natured "pope baiting" I think they need to have alook at themselves?? :? ;)

p.s I can never thank Nitlefly enough for the PM about putting greased marbles up my ass during a wank, it's changed my life!!!! ;)
