5 wins on the bounce for the team I player-manage at the mo, possible triple still on. Where do I sign?

With you and your grass roots experience, and my expertise on ChampMan (specifically 00/01 season), we could probably do a decent job!

like i said, 10 months for a competitive match! ;)

the way those qualifier groups went

England would be looking at a battle for 3rd behind Scotland and N. Ireland

Will the English Press allow another foreign manager?
They managed to scare off Scolari.
Would Mourinho take a job that wasn't day to day running of a team?

Englands problems go deeper than the coach position

A midfield with 2 superstars who cannot play together
A reliance on Beckham when he is winding his career down
A shocking defence
A trio of dodgy keepers

From a scottish point of view, if we lost Ferguson, for example, due to injury - its a big loss
But for a country of Englands size, you lose a Rooney or an Owen and its a disaster
lose 5-6 first picks like last night and England look decidedly ordinary

as for the club football
thats partly down to the madness of the English transfer market
ludicrous prices for average players meaning that the majority of teams go to cheaper foreigners to fill squads

example

Tottenham

berbatov £10.9m
bent (1 year later) £16.5m

crazy

this filters into a league with the English regulars in the minority
Scotland had this recently but the smaller SPL clubs stopped signing vast amounts of duff foreigners and played Scots
This has lead to the Old Firm teams (especially Rangers) having teams & squads that are largely Scottish
meaning the national team have more experienced personell to call on

Wouldn't bloody surprise me in the least:rolleyes:

i know you'd take it that way scott!!;):p

i think we'd get whooped at a home champs, i meant the games would be pretty meaningless to all intents and purposes and therefore couldn't be classed as competitive.

in fact, i'm pretty sure only euro champs/equivalent and world cup matches (qualifiers and finals) are classed as competitive games. altho, the confederations is now too i think.

As a Wycombe fan I've watched Martin O'Neill since was manager there, he was an inspiration at Wycombe, took us up two leagues and I saw two Wembley play-off finals under him :p
Plus with his experience at Leicester and Celtic, I think he is the best man for the job. Whether or not he actually wants the job is another thing. He's an intelligent man and has said in the past he wouldn't take the Endland job because off all the sh1t that comes with it.

i want Jose as long as he does not pick lampard, but as he would pick lampard i'd not want him

I'd have any manager who does not pick lampard

i think at the time of appointing McLaren, O'Neill was interviewed for the job and stated that if chosen he would take it

but i would doubt it after being passed over for McLaren

there is one british guy who has international experience and has a good track record of getting the best out of a wayward bunch. Step forward Alex McLeish. Or how about last nights winning manager Bilic

I think Alan Shearer would be worth a shot! Ok no managerial experience but what do we mean by experience?? The game is evolving by the minute so what experience better than someone who has just finished playing international football! He would at least have the respect of the big ego'd players that we have there now which is a big factor which has been missing.. Klinnsman did'nt do badly at germany and Donadoni is doing a good job at Italy both inexperienced managers!!! Appointing a manager with a big CV doesn't guarantee knowledge of todays game! For my sins im a villa fan and am quite pleased with what o'neill is doing but let me tell you this, he's spent the last few years up in scotland and trust me he is learning the trade down here again thats how quick its changing... Give it BIG AL

redknapp has no chance due to his involvement in too many unsubstantiated bung rumours. If it is anyone other than oneil then its a travesty

O'Neill would be my second choice.

Buckers with Dan-X as assistant is the obvious dream ticket. With his spreadsheet capabilities and my 'making sh1t happen' skills I reckon we could get England into Euro 2008 even after we've been knocked out!

Redknapp's a tw@t of which my managerial antipathy is only matched by Vegetables.

I'm not making any bold grandios statements that I will chicken out of, but if he becomes manager I am leaving the country.

Buckers - Assistant?! What, just because you;re MUCH older than me? ;) It doesn't always work like that matey.

Anyway, I've handled superstars, Kennedy Bakircioglu, Gaving Holligan, the Zlatan combo of Muslimovic and Ibrahimovic, the Swedish Wonderkids(C), Joe Cole, Denilson and a young Ronaldinho, Christian Vieri, they've all "enjoyed working with Carol Vorderman*"

(my managerial alter ego)

No, because the next drunken Friday night you spend running around with your c*ck hanging out will cause slightly less tabloid furore if you're only second in command!
