New England Manager - Who do we want?

Jose Mourinho. We've tried an English manager and it didn't work, lets get someone with a proven track record of winning things. He seems able to stir passion, loyalty and dedication in his players too.

Failing that, imo Terry Venables should never have been dismissed all those years ago so if they wanted to give him another crack at it i'd be happy.

Please, no suggestions of Sam fcuking Allardyce from anyone, he's ****e!

For sentimental reason Stuart Pearce but realistically I know he's not got enough experience.

Martin O Neill is a bit of a whinging old woman but at least he's a decent manager.

2 years ago I would have said Venables but he hasn't helped himself by pally-ing it up with Monkey Maclaren.

Would love to see Jose managing England but not sure whether he'd return to England so soon.....

Im sure they will be queueing up!!!.........Not!!!

Big Phil - Accepted in principle 18 mths ago, then woke up to 100 journalists outside his house and thought f**k that. Unlikey to have changed his mind.

The Special One - yeah righto, but would be a good appointment none the less.

Fabio - again a good appointment, just refused the lucrative Birmingham City post, so maybe he's got one eye on this job?

Psycho - 5 wins out of 5 with the u21's, for passion he cannot be matched, but I dont think he's cute enough yet to make the step up, got caught out too many times tactically when with City.

you know who I would like?

Klinsmann!!! but like big phil, does he need the crap that comes with it??

Seems to me that thinking a change of manager will make much of a difference is akin to re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

Here is a posting from another forum, with which I can find precious litle to argue:

English football is in a parlous state and has been for over thirty years. Look at that player Croatia player Modric - nobody in the British Isles plays football like that. Because you are taught to run in straight lines, you will never see a pass like Eduardo gave for the first goal. No technique, no skill, no joy for the game. The majority of English football fans are fools who nothing about the game themselves - I've been listening to the radio tonight and all the talk is about Mcclaren and the pitch. Neither of these things have nothing to do with this. The players AREN'T good enough - and THE ENGLISH are loath to admit it. You have a rotten society of spoilt, selfish, badly brought up young people. We were beaten by a TEAM of hard-working, skilful young players, PROUD to represent their country. Well done Croatia and good luck in the Euros.
Suffer English football - you deserve it

So would I to be honest, at least he has something about him, but I don't think he would.

How do I know, because the god of football managing Sir Alex Ferguson spoke to him not so long ago and asked the question and Jose said he'd rather have another stint at league football (in europe) than take the england job.

But I'll happily be proved wrong.

I am with JJinit on this one but with Mourinho - I doubt they will touch him - he's too OOC for the FA to cope with imo...

I can't believe Shearer is even being mentioned as a possibility, haven't the FA learnt from appointing managers with little/no experience :spank:

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo that will be a travesty - I would rather have Wrighty for Manager!!! - actually, there's an idea....:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Martin O Neil... if he can take Leicester to the premiership and keep them in the top half every year, and win 2 league cups... he is clearly a miracle worker!

This should be the moment when the FA launches a "root-and-branch review", to quote chairman Geoff Thompson, of not just the senior team, but the game at every level in this country, including and especially how kids are coached when they first start playing.

But of course that would be the sensible thing to do.

So this being England, it won't happen.

digger is talking most sense.

i remember 20 years ago, watching saint and greavsie at the ajax youth academy and explaining how technique based football would be the standard in england in the next generations. we are still miles off........

but more than this, more than the technical ineptitude, i think there is something more chronic the attitude, application and pysche about the english in being able to succeed in sport.

proportionately, in terms of population, resources, volume of players at all levels - we are a fcukin shambles at practically every sport we compete in.

a big hitter for the england job please.

Mourinho is so far and away the obvious choice it's untrue, and the appointment from him is the only remotely realistic gift the FA can give the British public after ruining 50% of the Male populations 2008 Summer.:spank:

I don't even rate him that highly as a manager, though he commands respect (from fans* and players), he can play the media better than Princess Di, AND he has experience working with superstars and Wanye Bridges alike.

The only barrier is any contract clauses he might have, or whether he wants to manage an International side, which is a whole different ball game (not least of all as he won't be able to ponce off the 2005 Porto side anymore!)

*Let's face it, if he wasn't Chelski scum, you'd LOVE a man like that at the front of your team (can't believe I'm saying this!):D

JOSE FOR ENGLAND! COME BACK SPECIAL ONE!

This is what my cousin, a handy rugby player who spent his teenage years at school in Sydney, always says and I'm finding it increasingly difficult to disagree with him.

Aussie kids learn that winning mentality from the cradle.

But I also believe that the confidence to back that mentality in tight spots comes with years of honing good technique.

You can see that in the way the Australians play cricket and rugby - even when they're having a bad day form-wise you can never, ever write them off.

the only other issue is about which manager is willing to sit around for 10 months waiting for a competitive match.
