Never know who you're dealing with........

So...the builders on the site round the corner from our house are harrassing TCMB on a daily basis. A chat with them got me nowhere and more physical action is curtailed by my cracked ribs. Rang their office and was treated with disdain by a receptionist, who also refused to put me through to anyone of note.

Still....by the time HSE and Council Building Control get there later I'll be happy enough  That's if their major client whose name they got all over their clothing, despite their not being the main contractor on the job in question, don't cut ties with them and send them bust. They (their main client) seemed most put out and when I rang to complain about their workmen.

Rule no. 1, if you've got hairy-arsed builders working in close proximity to the public, don't have an amoeba answering your publicised no.!

Buckley who are the contractors?? we have Laing O'Rourke doing the rest of our development and they are always trying to make conversation with me when im walking to work in the morning. I always ignore them but thats not the point is it when they are not supposted to do it

There was 2 of them on site the other morning at about 4am nicking stuff

They are the biggest cowboys going. Our company have also had several encounters with them. They have a reputation for things collapsing

Our development was under construction for a year after we moved in.

Luckily all attention was already on the pole dancer and the supermodel.

:P

So you didn't get whistled at once, Drew?

No, and apparently Buckley didn't either... which is why he got all jealous about the attention TCMB received and started causing trouble.

Won't name them on here Mambs but it's not them.

Laing O'Rourke are a big concern. No doubt they sometimes use chickensh1t subcontractors like the one who's angered me. Call them:

Bridge Place
Anchor Boulevard,
Admirals Park, Crossways
Dartford, Kent
DA2 6SN
United Kingdom
Tel. +44 (0)1322 296200

and explain you find it intimidating and they'll have a word and it'll stop. (Get the best address for the site you can - they'll have loads).

Remember that the fellas in question (presuming they haven't been lewd or offensive) are just working lads who probably think you might be flattered  , so be honest about what they've said/done because you don't really want to be getting them sacked if they meant no harm.

A little late to be showing such concern for the proletariate now, isn't it Sir Buckley?

Genuinely, though, once she's been actually followed down the street and is scared of them, it's not really harmless any more.

Good on ya Buckers for taking it seriously and making a stand on Anna's behalf. Too many builders think it's their right to be abusive to women just because they are on a scaffold.

I have to say I've only ever been asked for the dog's phone number by our local workmen 8O

Once someone scares Anna, and they have, I couldn't give a flying f**k about them.

That is truly horrible. I am sorry to hear it went that far. :!:

But what I was referring to was your long track record of exploiting the working man  ;)

"Alright darling!" a few times is par for the course, along with "cheer up" etc but still shouldn't go on for days if there's no response.

Wolf whistling from when a girl is in view two hundred metres away and doing so all until she's out of view again, accompanied with lewd comments and finally actually following her down the street while looking her up and down is asking for a kicking. Particularly if it happens every day for weeks.

I make no apologies.

Hey! I work very very hard.. which is why I'm almost never found wasting valuable company time on Internet forums

That chasing down the street thing is spooky scary stuff. Knock some heads!

I really wonder what they hope to accomplish by that behaviour? It's not like they really think she's going to like it or walk over for a chat or something. It's just intimidating behaviour and they are probably well aware that they have frightened her.

With any luck they'll be off the job and have longer than a 3 week break over Christmas!
