My face just froze

Sorry to complain again, especially since I'll elicit little sympathy given that I actually chose to live here.... but was just outside for about 15 minutes and froze my face  Fingers feeling a bit numb at this point too (typing is a nightmare).

3rd straight day below -20C. It's actually warmed up to -24C right now (from a low point of -33 last night) but the added fun of snow and high winds is killing me. Wind chill is -36 right now 8O

If anyone knows of a high-level PR executive position in a warmer climate (preferably London or Ibiza, but I'm willing to review other options) then PM me ASAP. I've got a decent resume and very good rep in the business. I'm only 10% joking... really... seriously. We'll call this Project "Thaw Morbyd".

That is all.

mr russ cant help johnny m but

i was thinking of you when i read the papers this am

have you seen those guyz going for dips in the frozen rivers then necking cognac. freaks

Certainly dont envy you, if this country got anything close to the tempretures your recieving @ the moment,.it would grind to a hault!

Did China or somewhere have -40 not long ago and people were having amputations because it was so cold?

Or is that something else I imagined?

 how the hell could it get this cold! my dad therm....just broke. it coould register minus 25 in Minsk where he´s based, but it broke because its colder than that!!!! in DK we feel the cold from siberia too. we have minus 8 and they shut the airports last night. im going to cannes tomorrow so they damn well better start those engines!!

It's lovely and mild here in FLT, the sun is even shinning. :D
Oh and I'm about to book my holiday in March so
Sorry to run it in Morb 8)

Nish - yes, it can get that cold. It was -50 to -55 across much of Siberia last week... unusually cold as it's usually -30 to -40 this time of year. Northern China, Mongolia and Kazakhstan have similar weather.

Russ - yes, there were two types of people going for swims this week. On Wednesday night there was the Epiphany (the day Christ was baptized under the Orthodox calendar) so a lot of people went for a quick dip as per tradition. Then you've got the morzhi (walrusses) who just go swimming in this type of weather for fun (psychos!)

I-G - your dad's in Minsk? That's got to be a rough assignment. I've heard it's about the most Soviet city in the former Soviet Union... little has changed.

Sandi -

All - apologies for the whiney post last night. I was a bit tipsy when stopping off at home after the first of three parties  (Still thinking about moving somewhere warmer though!)

Not so bad today. -22 C. Though it looks a bit windy (wind chill -36, according to Yahoo weather... I've not ventured outside!)

no its not really a rough assignment, hes stuck in a 5 room apartment in the centre of town and work for ICC world bank ,so its not the worst in the world. sure the KGB is syping on him and following him to check up on his daily routines ...!!:o its like the older sovjet sure, and Lucachenca (emmmhh spelling,he´s the president) the head of governemt doesnt allow any western influece. he even shut down the university from one day to another because the students were adapting too quickly to the western ways of thinking, in terms of politics. so one day he just shut it down, and all students couldnt study their foreigh language there anymore. noe thats a dictator with influence! haha...

well its a nice place and safe, no violence and gorgeous my dad tells me. you need to be formally invitedtob the country when visiting. so my dad got me and my sisters a visa so we can fly in and visit him., was our xmas pressie this xmas! :)

Cant imagine what -30 must be like.. Guess you cant even drink a can in the street can you, it wouldnt take that long to freeze would it??

I can't imagine it either - i'm only little so can't take extreme weather - I really couldn't handle it!

Hope it warms up soon for you :D

It's cold enough in London today (about 2degrees this morning) I can't imagine what -30 would be like! Brrrrr! 8O

i know we've had the discussion before about the way 24 hour darkness (in iceland i think) can send you crazy.8O

well i'm starting that debate again..........i think if i lived in a place as cold as moscow now or anywhere -30, i'd go crazy and i'd not actually be able to function properly. I can't actually imagine getting out of bed or doing anything, in fact.

morbyd, i feel for you buddy;)

Morbyd you must have to go into serious heat training for Ibiza after spending so long in the cold lol... you know like athletes who are competing in the Olympics in a hot country train in hot conditions so their bodies are used to it. Do you sit in the sauna for a few hours in the weeks running up to Ibiza ;)

Oooh I quite fancy experiencing cold like that - my boss went ice mountain climbing in Antarctica and it looked fabulous -

although on second thoughts maybe i would like to experience the cold from a 5* hotel through the windows.....

hehe... Nice coat.

I take a lot of flack because I refuse to wear a hat and I got to work in a regular black wool overcoat instead of one of those monsters. My co-workers think I'm insane... and there all Russian! I thought they'd be used to it.

Ps. -17 today. It's practically a heat wave!
