Music On 2017

How do residents feel about the seasons getting longer and longer with regards to club openings, surely this is taking more of the islands quieter winter time away, a time I know that a lot residents look forward to!

my take on this is: I would have no problem with a proper 6 month season. start in may, finish with halloween. also climatically it would easily be possible. I wouldn't want a 12 month season though, at least not with the big clubs open etc. I welcome that there's a bit more tourism in winter now, helps keeping more hotels and restaurants open and more activities too, but it's good that there is still this 'quiet' period where you get a chance to breathe.

I kinda get having pre opening parties for the reasons above but what I don't get is when the Closing Parties are split into 2 parts? It doesn't happen with many nights but Music On done it last year and Cream do it most years(not that I'd go)

It dosnt make any sense because the closing party is, well, the last party! So I don't get how you can call the one the week before closing part 1. Can anyone explain if this is done for any other reason than to try fill the club?

Like last year I booked tickets for Music On Closing only for another date to be added and then the one I had tickets for was Closing part 1 so not really the closing at all.

with cream it's a marketing thing to call it closing part one and part 2.
with music on I really believe it made it better because 'everyone' wanted to go and so it was actually possible and I believe bearable on both nights?

btw, years ago space did a two day opening or closing, can't remember whether it was at the start or at the end of the season, but they also did a two-dayer once.

I guess this boils down to: are you going for a good time? Or are you going to say you've been to closing party?

Surely if it's the former, it doesn't matter whether it's the closing party or not. The only thing that matters is that you have a good time, no?

Don't feel cheated. You're unnecessarily upsetting yourself.

Yes. Opening party 2010. My first Opening party. I loved it! Everybody else with more experience said it didn't work out so well.

Apart from actual club openings/closings, I've never actually felt the party is any better/worse for promoter opening/closings.

I completely agree and I'm not saying that it upset me in any way shape or form. In fact I had a great time! And like Stivi said it was bearable! Especially come 6am.
All I was getting at was if I booked a ticket for the closing party I kind of expect to go to the closing party and considering in past years the closings have gone on a lot later than the standard nights I think that's fair enough. Just to add I could have gone on to the actual closing had I wanted but was very happy with the part 1 and wanted to save myself for the big one! SPACE:D

Apart from the fact some get extended opening hours which in turn makes it better, nothing beat sunshine on Amnesia Terrace

Yes that really annoyed me when they did that for music on!! I wasnt liking the music for the first closing and the music for 2 nd closing was really good

Already priced €80 peak season I'm sure I saw somebody post.

Without sounding like a capitalist who_re you can't blame any of them for pricing at this. What weekly parties can actually get away with €70+ week in week out? Probably only 3 I guess:

- Music On
- Guetta at Pacha
- Solomun +1 at Pacha

In all those instances (love or hate the DJs) they and their teams have put the time in over the years to build those nights into what they are

If you're bursting at the seams and the price isn't putting ppl off, then it's just basic supply and demand.

They'll keep charging those prices so long as ppl are prepared to pay them.

Another case of vote with your feet.

... and we all know the clubs will be filled, so there is no chance of this changing anytime soon.

I noticed on Amnesia that it looks like they have a count of how many tickets are available....maybe wrong but it does seem very limited based on capacity
