san jose council now have a new brochure avilable showing 8 different routes around the area which mountain bikers can follow.
the routes are on average 20 kms and a total of 175 kms is covered.

the brochure is in spanish and english and can be collected from san jose town hall.

this is in addition to the 'rutas de halcon' which is a guide to hiking and cycling routes all over the island and is available at all tourist offices.

winter is an ideal time for this type of activity and on a walk round the cala bassa/cala conta area yesterday we saw many hikers out in the sunshine.

the area between cala conta and cala bassa (where the torre d'en rovira tower is situated) is one of our favourite places to make BBQs in winter!! :D

If I was going alone this would definately be on my list of "things to do", unfortunately sam doesnt share my passion for cycling. :(

If it was up to me I would probably cycle round the entire island!!

Did a bit of cycling in August, I thought I would roast, but it was Ok.

I would recommend it, its a great way to see a bit of the island and to find some of the quieter beaches.

Makes a change from baking around the pool. A good way to shake of the eating, drinking and clubbing excesses too!
