Morocco

I went to Marrkech for Easter this year. It wasn't my cup of tea to be honest - way too busy, IMO I thought it looked run down & dirty. There isn't that much to do apart from haggle with shop keepers & sight seeing is limited to a couple of palaces & a handful of Mosques. The main square at night is a good experience and as long as you don't mind stinking of smoke you'll be fine. Didn't get hassled at all but then I was with Matt. Found the locals to be very friendly & helpful.
We stayed here: www.casalalla.com which is an amazing place. The staff are fantastic, it's a little oasis of calm just away from the main square. And the food is out of this world! A six course meal cooked by a chef with 3 Michelin stars. Amazing. I would go back just to stay there again.

well it is their country. so they can pretty much do as they please, even if it doesnt conform to the western ideals of being equal blah blah blah

Well yes of course! But I don't understand your point...it's not like I'm on a one man mission to change their moral fabric is it?

They used to serve sheep brain pie in La Barraca years ago, not sure if they still do?
Anyway it looked vile.
I suppose it's no worse than the part of the sheep the Scots eat
(though I'll admit, I do like haggis!)

Sheep brain sounds quite interesting actually 8O

This thread has made me want to go to morroco now

Hows the alcohol situation out there - only hotels and stuff?

I used to eat sheep brain when I was younger and it was yummy, as long as you forget what is it exactly it's good

ah haggis is good - really really yummy, especially with all the right bits to go with it (is it creamed parsnips or something?)

What's it like Sil? 8O

The most shocking thing is the texture, it's really weird.
I used to eat it like donoughts filled with brains, but haven't reat them for years.

Home made ones.
Tecnically it's not donoughts, it's a "buñuelo", but you don't have "buñuelo" and my translator says dnoughts :D

Alcohol: Offcially not allowed, but there are loads of bars and a few clubs, Pacha Included. Most bars are attached to a restaurant but you can bar hop if you know your way around. I got drunk loads!!:D

Jah Mahal was my favourite bar. Gorgeous.
