Money

Last time we went to Ibiza it was for our honeymoon and it was all paid for. Accordingly we had lots of drinks around the Sunset Strip and even a few in the clubs.

Next time its going to be a trip to the supermarket for cheap ale and oceans of hierbas, a big bag of pasta and lots of sauce jars and doing it on the cheap.

Will take £500 and hope to bring some back. Call me tight but I'm going in June and September and don't want to be bankrupt by the end of 2004 !

However, I'm still going to enjoy myself enormously. You don't have to throw your money about like mad to have a good time. Use the local shops, drink before you hit the clubs and limit the spending in the stylish bars.

cheers for the info

yeah its a clubbing holiday
i was thinking of maybe an average of £100 a day, so round about £1500.
but what ever i take im gonna spend, so i might aswell just tale as much as possible with out having to rob a bank

I've said this before but last year we went on the 23rd of june for two weeks, ate lunch in the apartment ate out every night in a nice resturant in figueretas along the front and had a few botles of wine with diner. After this we would usually head to noctambula in Ibiza town for a few beers (corona being a favourite and one of the cheapest) or vodka. Got friendly with the staff meaning some drink a little cheaper. :D
Think we went to big clubs about 5 or 6 times but asked the staff in the bars where the cheapest place was to get tickets (most of which included a free drink). We only paid €20 for the hed kandi opening party from the el divino bar in the port but spoke to people in the club who had paid €35 in san an.
I also came home with a few diesel t-shirts went to the waterpark one day and went out on jet ski's once. There was 4 of us there and we all spent between £800 and £900 each. I think make sure you shop about for club tickets ect, speak to people in bars they will be able to tell you the cheapest ways of doing things.
I totally understand how people can spend into the £1000 to £2000 price range but if your careful (but not over causous) im sure you could manage on any amount.

Exactly. I'd personally feel a bit hacked off if I spent £2000 or so, as it probably meant I'd just pissed it all against a wall, so to speak!

You can guarantee the minimum (Mr Frugal) you'll need is £500.
Of course as ever you'll cut your drinking costs by drinking b4 u go out, & stocking yr fridge up from your local shop ;) . Smirnoff is cheap as chips, we did see a 3 litre bottle last year we were quite tempted. But then it would of been, well its there might as well drink it 8O 8O
Lots of small bars & eateries do offers on drinks aswell, its a case of get out there & explore. There are many things to do & experience :)

I think it depends how much money you think is alot. If you're a student or don't earn much then you can get by on not much, whereas if you're minted and spending 3k on a 2 week break is well within your budget then thats fine too.

Try to bring as much as possible, don't want to leave yourself worrying about money the whole holiday! 8O

I believe that the more you take the more you spend, so even if you take just some cash and travellers checks, and then a bank card just in case!! :D

Pack more cash and less clothes 8)
Budget approximately 100-200 Euros/day for entertainment and 40-60 Euros/day for food.

Me and Mr Puppylover spend about £1400 between us each year that's staying in a villa and eating in through the day but eating out every other night, buying some clothes each, but mind you we are quite lucky in that we get guesties to most of the clubs - which is a godsend because we would prob be only able to afford a week there if this wasnt the case.... especially as we prefer the villa option....

I spent about $1400 (1200 Euro) out there. I got really out of sorts one day though and was buying people drinks and stuff (stupid Circoloco)
In any case, 200 Euro/day should do you right! Just don't go to the clubs with more than you want to spend (and don't get a taxi back to your room when you run out)......

The simple answer is to take what you can afford. You will just have to learn to budget while you are out there if you don't have enough. Not all of us that fly to ibiza are loaded and sometimes you have to make a few cut backs and enjoy ibiza for what it really is rather then get into the "lets see who can spend the most money in two weeks" competition.

Ibiza can be as cheap or as expensive as YOU want it to be, so decide what you want to do when you get there and see how much you have to spend when you arrive. You may have to cross some things off your list but thats the way it is.

A lot of people are saying you will ultimately need upwards of 200 Euros per day, that's rubbish... if you dont have that you can still have a wonderful time.

That's one of the things I love about Ibiza. No matter what your budget you can always enjoy yourself in Ibiza. I've been going every year since 2000 and my budget has changed over the years, but Ibiza is still special - still magical.

Couldn't have said it better myself!

Agreed. But when you have credit cards you can't force yourself to budget and then spend the winter paying them back!

That's the problem. Hence why I make sure I budget, so that I don't end up having to eat beans on toast when I get back!
