Missing Madeline

I don't even know why this little girl is on the news all the time and people making a big deal out of it.
Thousands of little kids are stolen and killed every week ! But yet here we have all this propaganda over just 1 girl. If you ask me thats not right

Sorry, but for us in the UK this is a big deal.
We are not in control or aware of the foriegn media coverage regarding this.
If the newspapers in Italy are picking up on this where they maybe would not pick up on say a missing Potugese child, then that's a matter for the Italian press to think about.

Sad

It is sad when any child goes missing or is exploited. I think whoever hurts or exploits children should get life in prison at a minimum.:x :x

On a side note, all those that use MySpace check your bulletins.

A user setup a "Find Madeline" MySpace page last week and was swamped with over 3,000 ad requests. On Thursday MySpace admin took over the site themselves and Tom sent a bulletin to every MySpace user. They have all the posters in various languages and ask you to ad the "Find Madeline" MySpace profile as one of your friends and put her at the top of your friends list.

Another thing you can do is replace your own photograph with a Madeline poster and instantly it then appears on all your friends pages. I used the latest poster "Look into my eyes"...............

..............and it doesn't advertise any newspapers. ;)

Just checked, the "Find Madeline" page now has over 246,000 friends spreading the word! 8O

what is the logic behind having a myspace site for her??

As Les said, an extra 246,000 people being aware of her is no bad thing.

Whether it makes any difference is debatable.

suppose. but all those 246,000 will prob know about her anyway.

maybe if it reached the states like LES has said, then it could help raise awareness.

i know where you're coming from, on Sky news last night viewers were texting in their comments on this situation and one woman suggested selling yellow wrist bands "to help madeline".

I suppose all these things must be of comfort to the parents which is a good thing.

But sometimes I feel it trivialises the situation somewhat.

.....obviously, otherwise why would they have added her as a friend? However, if they in turn are spreading the word to their friends list who maybe don't know, then the number becomes exponential in raising awareness, which is the object of the exercise.

As MARKB said 'Whether it makes any difference is debatable.'.......yep, but whats a few clicks on a mouse button?

maybe if it reached the states like LES has said,
erm.......where did I say that? :?

The thing that angers me most in these sort of circumstances are the chain text messages that people send around. Are they started by the phone company to make more money?

i'm agreeing with you and mark. however, when you say "whats a few clicks of a mouse button".........that exactly emphasises how trivial doing something like that can be.

hopefully it's not like that.

.....

you said tom has sent a bulletin to every myspace user, therefore........

Ummmm, raising awareness!!

My boyfriend whos Spanish didnt see a bulletin about it on the news until the Sunday or Monday...a couple of days after she was taken.....therefore....just goes to show that NOT everyone knew about it straight away and probably still dont!

i think you made enough of a fuss about 1 club owner taking a bullet?

My view on this is that it's tragic and whether we think the parents are in the right or wrong we should just pray that this nevers happens to us or anyone we know, and spare a thought for the countless other kiddes this has happened to which doesn't make the news in such a way.

My personal opinion is that the parents should not have left them on their own at all - there are other dangers for kiddies left on their own fire, choking etc, doesn't matter if it was 50 yards away or not. We all have our on views on what we would have done or not done.

However my opinion doesn't matter like everyone elses doesn't matter. What matters is that she is found safe and well.

However I do think that all this press coverage and hoo-haa may have a negative effect in that the people who have her may feel the net is closing on them and will have no option but to....well I don't want to say.

Also does this mean that every kid who goes missing a "reward fund" will be set up and would this mean that would give sickos an idea to make a quick buck?

I agree
