Birmingham club brand, Miss Moneypenny’s, joins Ministry and Gatecrasher in the current fashion for £million refits with the unveiling of their £1.1million makeover of Bonds.

The club – now renamed HQ, will open Saturday, October 25, it has been designed by award-winning interiors person, Patrick Casey of Avalon design, and is said to be entirely “without corners”, to promote “interactivity, sociability and fluid movement”.

The lavish venue has been split into six different rooms and areas encompassing a vodka bar, champagne bar, cocktail bar. premier drinks bar and a first-floor VIP area called The Ambassadors Gallery. There are also new split level ceilings and private booths with waitress service. In addition to The Control Room (the re-designed dancefloor), a live stage area has been added, which will see performances spanning guitar-based indie music to jazz, blues and soul. The main centre stage will continue to host Moneypenny’s on Saturday nights.

They say the venue is the blueprint for their newly conceived "Lounge Culture" clubbing concept in which “style, comfort and exclusivity lead the way”.

In stark contrast to reports of the growing warehouse scene and the rise and rise of back to basics style underground clubbing, Dermot Ryan, promoter of Miss Moneypenny’s, commented: “In the last few months there has been a dramatic shift and change in clubland. Clubbers tastes and desires have become more sophisticated and people know what they like and want.” He added: “The groundbreaking design of HQ will provide a blueprint for the new generation of club.”

The owners say that famous Ibiza venues Pacha and El Divino have also influenced the venue design and there are future plans to include a summer roof terrace. Though given the state of British summertime, this would only be open for a couple of days a year.

more on this new club.

Internationally renowned and revered club brand Miss Moneypenny’s is shortly to unveil its own unique and cutting-edge late-night ‘Lounge-Culture’ blueprint with the opening of HQ this Autumn. Moneypenny’s bosses have spent over £1.1million in the purchase and complete refurbishment of the former Bond’s nightclub on Hampton St, Birmingham. HQ is set to explode the boundaries and preconceptions in a confident and independent move away from the uniformity, currently dominating today’s bars and clubs. Luxury, pleasure and boldness are now top of the agenda!

Unlike its other counterparts and pale imitations, the opening of HQ is much more than just a refurbishment – it is the creation of a new style and generation of club and cultural shift in the demands of clubbers. ‘Lounge-Culture’ is about re-injecting sensuality and enjoyment back into clubbing. HQ is a bold move beyond bar and club culture, promoting escapism by utilising virtually all the sensations and emotions of a cool late night bar, a cutting edge club and the comfort factor. Whilst bar culture is focussed on drinking and socialising, the Moneypenny’s ‘Lounge Culture’ concept takes this to the next level entering the realm of the experimental and offering a new and all encompassing sensory experience. Style, comfort and exclusivity lead the way.

Dermot Ryan, promoter of Miss Moneypenny’s commented ;

“In the last few months there has been a dramatic shift and change in club land. Clubbers tastes and desires have become more sophisticated and people know what they like and want. Moneypenny’s has always represented the glamorous, style-focussed end of clubbing and now is the time to take the Lounge Culture concept one step further. The groundbreaking design of HQ will provide a blueprint for the new generation of club. Lounge-culture is a lifestyle choice for the clubber who wants more! Moneypenny’s has always been a haven for a fashionable and cutting edge crowd and has always set the trend, it is vitally important that we constantly innovate to meet and exceed our audiences expectations and needs. As fashion and music evolve, so to must clubland and that is what HQ is all about. HQ has given us the opportunity to create our unique imprint on clubland.”

The ‘Lounge-Culture’ experience at HQ will be defined in the relationship between music and mood. A newly constructed live stage will showcase the best in live bands from guitar-based indie music to jazz, blues and soul. The main centre stage Saturday night will naturally host Moneypenny’s retaining the sultry-sounds that the club is renowned for from funky-house to club-classics, funk, soul and R&B

Designed by award-winning designer Patrick Casey of Avalon design, the venue has been aesthetically transformed and now showcases one of the most sumptuous and opulent interiors in clubland. HQ is a club without corners, a sweeping arrangement of curves and circles. The entire space has been designed to promote interactivity, sociability and fluid movement as well as creating a relaxed and comforting atmosphere.

Dramatic lighting highlights the flamboyance of the venue, texture and touch play a large part in the sensory appeal of the club – drapes and cushions in the booths add to luxurious feel of the club. New split level ceilings have also been introduced to create an intimate and contemporary feel, while private booths with waitress service have been added throughout the venue and add to the exclusivity of the club. The club also draws Balearic influences combining the cosmopolitan feel of Pacha and El Divino. Future plans for HQ include a summer roof terrace.

The lavish venue has been split into six diversely different rooms and areas encompassing a vodka bar, champagne bar, cocktail bar and premier drinks bar. Each room offers something different and there will be areas to dance, chill, relax, lounge and socialise;

The Control Room

The exhilarating dance floor offers state of the art sound and light. A circular central area is surrounded by private booths and banquettes on an upper peripheral area. The architecture flows dramatically in a circular movement leading to a stage area which will be used for live bands and percussion

The Principal Bar

Located on the ground-floor, the main bar has been transformed in a sweeping, circular area floored with ceramic tiles. The Principal bar will offer a full range of premium drinks. This area has been extended and leads into The Principal Lounge where private booths will be available for hire.

The Chamber

Located on the ground-floor, The Chamber is an exquisitely rounded gold-room hosting a cocktail and vodka bar. The curvature in the room sweeps seductively in a semi-circle and offers a laid-back, chilled ambiance away from the throng of the main dance floor.

The Globe

An intimate and sensual spherical room located upstairs in the venue. With its plush circular seating and seductive lighting, this room highlights the innovative and stylish nature of HQ.

The Consulate

Located behind the main stage area, The Consulate is the perfect area to relax and soak in the atmosphere from the main dance floor.

The Ambassadors Gallery

Located on the first floor, the Ambassadors Gallery is the ultimate VIP area complete with opulent private booths and waitress service.
