Liverpool hero Reina burgled during Chelsea clash

LIVERPOOL, England (AFP) - As Jose Reina was performing heroics in a penalty shoot-out to send Liverpool into the Champions League final, burglars were ransacking the Spanish goalkeeper's Merseyside home, it emerged on Wednesday.
Reina returned home after one of the most memorable evenings of his playing career to find that thieves had made off with jewellery, a top-of-the-range audiovisual system and his Porsche Cayenne car, local police said.
The sports car was later found burnt out in another area of the city.

The robbery during Liverpool's clash with Chelsea on Tuesday was the latest in a series of incidents in which footballers have been targeted, often while they have been playing matches.
Reina's predecessor as Liverpool's number one goalkeeper, Jerzy Dudek, was burgled in June 2006. He also lost a Porsche and jewellery but was more distraught that the thieves took his 2005 European Cup winners' medal.
Danish defender Daniel Agger, who scored for Liverpool on Tuesday night, had his home in the city's suburbs burgled in September last year.
Reds striker Peter Crouch's house was targeted in the same month while he was on England duty and Everton winger Andy van der Meyde was burgled twice last year, including one raid in which his pedigree puppy was taken.
Wayne Rooney also lost memorabilia, including his BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year trophy, when his parents' Liverpool home was burgled in July 2006.
One footballer that Merseyside's burglars have not been able to profit from is former Everton striker Duncan Ferguson.
During his playing days, 'Big Dunc' twice apprehended would-be robbers at his home. The first incident, involving two intruders, ended with one of them fleeing for his life while Ferguson 'restrained' and then sat on the other one until the police arrived.
A later incident resulted in the "battered and bruised" burglar unsuccessfully attempting to sue the former Scotland international player for damages.

apparently police have been questioning frank lampard.........

because nobody could confirm his whereabouts from between 7:45 to 10pm on tuesday
True that.... totally anonymous. :?

....but in his defence, even having a sh*t year he's scored more goals than most Premiership strikers :p

His coming off at Old Trafford was the only thing that gave Man U a glimmer of hope in this tie.

I was very impressed with Milan last night. They are peaking at the right time which is crucial (they were dire about 3 months ago)

Thought Man Utd's big players failed to turn up. Interesting how none of the finalist have had a great season domestically, it shows how difficult it is to win your league and in Europe in the same season.

Some team did it last year though;)

My girlfriend is one of the greatest Milan supporter ever...

Last night she shouted for all the match "Vai Kaka' !!!" and "Gattuso kill them all !!!" while I was trying to resolve a Sudoku grid...

For the quiteness of my house I hope Milan gonna win the Cup...

Must note that the atmosphere in Istanbul was great. All the supporters were having a grand time, and we didn't see any trouble around.

No, we didn't want to jinx the team again (not that it helped!)

I had flight reservations ready to go (just had to hit "book"). Found a London-Athens one-way on BA for $150 :!: on Expedia.com, and an Athens-Moscow one-way on Aeroflot for $250 on their website. Good deals... too bad I won't need them!

of course, it'll be cheap(er) from your way.

btw - i used sopcast last night to watch the game. perfect, bit blurring when i did full screen, but otherwise sound and vision fine and continuous too.

roll on every cheeky live game of football broadcast across the globe!

Not really cheaper... most of the cheap seats around that period were taken (a lot of Russians go to the final too!) so it was a struggle to find a decent option. Plus, we were going to travel from London. Even regular price from here is about 250 pounds r/t.

I love Sopcast and its brethern... perfect for catching those matches that aren't on TV but aren't important enough to trek to the bar...

well in my case, it's the games that aren't on TV or in the bar.

e.g. fulham v liverpool 3pm on sat;)

You can't find a bar with the match on? 8O

The bar we go to has all the Sky channels, but it's also got Russian sat TV and somehow has the South African SuperSport channels (they show almost EVERY match) so we almost always can catch the games there on either the big projection screen or large LCDs.

But when all else fails, hail the Chinese!

no no

i'm talking about games that aren't on TV in the UK. like 3pm KOs are never and have never been on at that time. hence the need for norwegian or other foreign stations to see the non-sky/terrestrial games.

it's illegal for bars/pubs to show chinese/norwegian channels

By the Chinese, I meant Sopcast and the like.

But that's interesting to hear. It's illegal to show foreign satellite channels in pubs in the UK? So you get the Sky package and that's it. Murdoch must be behind that!
