Please don't get me wrong. I am in no way against Marriage. I have just seen a lot of people get married because "It was then next thing to do". Thats all.

A lot of people do it without meaning, i understand that but what you dont seem to understand / believe from me as it seems is all what i've explained to you and how i feel about it. Its quite clear to me that you dont want to go through it all again. Thats your choice and i respect it.

forget protocol and "the next thing to do" Im doing it because I love my girlfriend and I couldnt imagine life without her...seriously

agree j, i'm the same but i think the point some people are making is that getting married doesn't or shouldn't change any of that. If i had said to my missus, i don't believe in marriage, i know she wouldn't have had a prob and we'd still love each other and still wouldn't have been able to imagine life without each other.

*talks quietly* are you err....have you....err........has she given you an ultimatum or somethin?:?

not at all, to be fair I share your views, "why do I need a piece of paper to prove how much I love you" etc but she's an old fashioned girl at heart and who am I to deny her, her big day?? and as my parents are still together as are hers, the institute of marriage still has some significance, also I think it's nicer for our children(if & when they arrive) to have that "security" however token that is these days?

I beleive in marriage.. and I'm not really religious..

I don't doubt that people who live together don't have the same amount of love and respect for their SO, but I do think that getting married binds the commitment... and although divorce rate is extremely high, I think NOT getting married makes it easier to back out of a relationship.

If its 'just a piece of paper', then whats the big deal? why not get the piece of paper?
