Manu moving to another club?

well I know what you are statin,g I just think we might be misunderstanding eachither.

You judge a real Ibizan night by whis involved in the process, and I guess I judge it based on the fact that it is/was the most popular (well, just to be sure) - at least the biggest venue there is...and therefor it for me, anyway, is the essence of a good Ibizan night.

I was planning on going to Balaeric peeps last year but ended up in Slinky instead, so maybe

I totally get what you are saying IG - using the same example as Robo 'balearic people' doesn't attract nowhere near the amount of people as manu has for the last 10 years. So many nights have folded especially when people were saying there was less tourists on the island a couple of years ago - and manu is still there and was busier than ever last year. There are lots of points you can argue but one thing you can not take away from the magical night is that it was at capacity most weeks last season - balearic people wasn't, neither was pacha/el divino (and they are what i believe robo and barbie would call true ibizian clubs). Have all those people got it wrong? Personally I wouldnt go to balearic people again but I have no idea how many times I have paid the extortionate (yes I agree) entry to get into privilege on a monday. At least you can see what you are getting for your money!

The last time I went to Manumission was 2001 and I would never go there again and I have no desire to go to Balaeric People, just my opinion that there are infinitely more days/nights that I would prefer to go. My point thru-out this whole thread has been that I think Manumission has sold out and is not nothing more that a glorified 18-30 night out.

The 18-30/2wenty $hitheads ruin the night for those of us who have been going long before those corporate money machines thought of doing coachtrips to the club. They however are not the only people in the club and maybe if you had been since 2001 you would know this. The crowd in coco loco is predominantly spanish and after about 3/4am only the true british clubbers and spanish are left in the club. The beer twats have long puked up on themselves/run out of money and gone. The club still has a lot of cross dressing/trans (not as many as in earlier years) but they still feel comfortable to be there (whereas they wouldn't even consider eden!)

I just like the place, its just Ibiza for me and thats basically all I wanted to state, I dont care shite about who´s attending the peeps. I don´t plan to speak or interview any of them anyway, so they can be 18 or 88 for all I freaking care, as long as the magic is there. That goes for all places, if the magic´s there, then fine. I´ve been to Manu many times and I have personally never seen any 18-30´s there (not many anyway) and no one puking on themselves like in the west end. The kiddies cant afford to go to Privelege + there´s always the vip if the place gets a bit too crowded anyway.......

I still go to the Carry Ons @ Space as that recreates to me much the Manumission vibe of old with 'proper' clubbers. However there are many places I'd spend a Monday these days above Manumission - DC10 in the day/evening, Pin-Up (RIP ), Roger Sanchez, Cocoon etc etc. I've done my time @ Manumission, it served it's purpose for me back in the 1990s but me, along with many others on this site, believe it's had its day and there are way more enjoyable ways to spend a Monday in Ibiza. But if that's still your thing, fine, and enjoy.

I'm not denying the place has changed, all I was trying to say is that for some people it may of had its day but to a lot of others (myself and mates included) its a really enjoyable night once/twice a year. Your taste in nights out has prob changed loads, i know mine has - sometimes you just grow out of things forcing your opinion of a scene/style/night to alter don't ya reckon?

It's probably a combination of my tastes changing and Manumission changing. There are still some things that I did in Ibiza when I first went in 1996 that I still do now but you'd be hard pushed to get me back to Manumission cos I believe that has changed and not for the better, however I think the Carry On is as good at is ever was. The other thing is there is much more choice on Mondays now than there ever was a few years ago.

For someone going to Ibiza for the first time tho I would recommend they do Manumission just the once for the sheer vastness and spectacle of it.

My very first night on the isle I went to Ibiza... I didn't enjoy it as much as other nights, but it was still very memorable, a symbol and staple of Ibiza and something to marvel at. I went back a few days later for the E-mix there and it was 1000% better, but the first was still fresh in my mind. This year, I'm planning on taking some Ibizan newbies there bc I think it is a great experience and like I said, a symbol of Ibiza.

What is a true ibizan night then? A night without 10.000 visitors and only the animators and dancers doing their (warm) job for you solely?

I just felt everyone who went there was being tarred with the same brush - i'm not an 18-30s beertwat nor am i an ibiza newbie (only an ibiza-spotlight newbie!)

I get the impression that it is seen as far more sophisticated to go elsewhere on a monday... but I don't go to be stuck up my own ass - I go for fun... and for me Manu is just that.
