mallorca calling, for 4 days

Don't forgett Valldemossa:

When you go to the cathedral don't forget to have a nice walk to la Lonja and Consulado del Mar and the Paseo Marítimo. The paseo Mar´timo is very large, Titos and Pacha are in The Paseo Marítimo but tere is quite a distance inbetwen.Take a taxi. The Cathedral at nigth is quite diferent. If you are in this area during the nigth a first drink you could have it the capuccino, now there is one next to the cathedral area is really very nice, I dont remember the steet but is situated in a litle palace, decorated in white is realyy nice, after there is one In San Miguel street, this is a strre to go shopping, the Capuccino in this street it is also beautiful in a Majorcan style house very old and beautiful.
There is another one in the midle of the Paseo marýimo. So if you ask how to go you must specified to wich one you want to go, there are very diferent one to the other one, there is one in PlmaNova nothing to fuss about it. I will look what is the name of the one near the cathedral because I think is quite you style.
To go and have a beer or martini before lunch go to El Pesquero and Darsena in the Paseo Marítimo, if you are going to have something to eat is better El Darsena but is much more nicer to seat and have a beer in the terrace El pesquero. This places are really nice because they have a nice tarrace facing the port.
everybody knows of this bars so you can ask.
To have a cofee go to the Café Bosc is very typicall all the Palmesanos goes and know where it is. Don't f forgett to go to the city council area called Cort is beautiful and next to the shopping center, if you are in the area you can also go to see El Gran Hotel wich have exhibisions and a nice cafe.
Everything is quite together so you just have to ask and it will be easy to find.
There is a nice new area to go an have dinner at nigt santa Catalina, there is a new plce with some stylish deco the sort of place I think you would like but I cannot say for the foof cause I have never tried it, Café Vietnam, in this area is full of restaurants.
Going back to La Lonja next to the Cathedral there is quite a lot of restaurants.

I-G don't forgett that if you are going out at nigth the day of you arrival, 7 of may most of people would be in the Feria de abril so places that are normally full would be emptier, first hour quite the same as usual but after most of the people would be in the Feria de abril. I supose disco, but I cannot be sure of that , would have more people.

The feria de abril is a typical festivity of Andalucia in the mainland but is has been imported hre and other places of the mainland, people goes to dance sevillanas and to party. In Mallorca is quite diferent, we have a feria de abril mallorcan style wich means they do not play so much sevillanas and there play other music. Don't misunderstand me, there is some tents that play sevillanas all the time and people go to dance, but there is quite a lot of them that they just play one for evry 20 tunes.
Is full of tents with bars where pople go to dance and get drunk, me too, I won't miss a nigth. The music is mostly spanish and some house tunes may be heard. Is absolutly crowded and everyyear that passes is bigger. They play a lot of remember songs, and people get really mad about it, its a lot of fun, and if majorcan people is mostly very unsocial with people they don't know in the feria de abril they change.
The council want it to be as big as the one of Barcelona cause council wins a lot of money with the tents. To have a tent you have to pay over 6000€ for the smaller one and is just for two weeks.
The 7 day is the last nigth so it would be the best one, because people been going for two weeks and get much more drunk than usual and is a sort of destry and you see veru funny thing. I domn't kow if you are into this type of celebration but is a good fun, and people who likes it go and go.
If you go don't forgett to have a Fino, manzanilla o rebujito and you would get the feeling.

Before it use to be inside Palma but now is outside next to The Hipodromo de Son Pardo, a short distance with a taxi, they would be lots of buses just for the feria de abril and also a car parking that would fit 1100 cars.
Just a tip as they say over here the Feria de abril levanta pasiones y odios what means that your either love it or hate it. So maybe you love it or maybe you hate it but you allways can go, is just outside Palma.
As I going this friday I would tell you if they had put asphalt in the paving because normally they dont and inbetwen the tents there is sand and your shoes get absolutly dirty, this year they said that they would put asphalt. The flloor inside tents is made of wood. If you go don't forget drinking the typicall drinks but slowly don't take confidence at first because goes to you head but it's fantastic for fun. dance the spanish music, beware is very crowded etc.

sounds like great fun to me! where is the party/festival???

You'll love it, IG! IT's really "spanish" even tho it's in Palma ;)

Great tapas, great fino and flamenco all over the place :D

And about food and restaurants...

Leave the glam-arabic styleeeee for Ibiza.
Go to a typical restaurant (Mikkak, can you help on here please?) and ask for a tombet, one of the traditional dishes, and IMO one of the best contribution of mallorca to the gastronomic culture. :D

Yes is in Palma but you cannot go walking because there is a motorway inbetwen and it could be quite dangerous. As I say in my last post I dont know if you miss it is a short distance with taxi, car or bus. I don't know if you have read it. For me it's a lot of fun. I'll be there all the weekend.

Yes I could help her but she doesn't look very interested in this sort of food and the type of restaurants that serves this food ;) ;) ;) I just know normal places where they serve this food and nothing that looks like km 5 or Babundhas. So I don't dare recomend her any good majorcan restauran because she probably woudn't like it, restaurants with paper mantelpiece where they serve frito malloquón etc

Ahh tombet mallorca, one of my fav dishes and a fav of the King of Spain I have been told. Yummy. They serve it at 'La torre' in Ibiza, two more weeks till I can get some. :P

hey hey peeps! be nice to me, you dont know what I prefer over the other! All you know is that I like a nice gorgeous setting, but would love to dine where I can see the view over some water from a hill or elsewhere! help needed :D

HI I-G, don't worry about that, everybody has it's own taste for things.
Today I would ask my friends if they know one restaurant like the ones you like.
Do you fancy seing a sunset in Mallorca, there is a few of places, here is not very typical but there is some place very nice to see them, El Cielo ( but I think they reforming it), el infierno, and I think there is a third one but I have to ask.ç
Today I am going to the Feria if they haven't put asphalt I would tell you because if you decide to go you should go with shoes you don't mind spoiling.
Anything else you need to ask me you're wellcome.!!!!!!

thajks mikkah! basically all we need is a nice rest. somewhere cozy with views over the ocean and just relaxing!
we would just like to go to the beach, have a good time, eat some good snacks and read books in the sun - so I hope it´ll be fine.
any recom´s for trips would be greatfully welcomed!

Well I suppose you can go to the beach, is not good to ask my advice because I am very very Majorcan girl and I never bath untill the summer but my untie allready started to bath so I suppose it would be ok.

The temperature today in Portocolom next to where I live is :
13 to 22 ºC , the medium temperature during the day it would be 18.
